It’s hard to know where to begin about our unforgettable wedding weekend at Masseria Calderisi! We had a 4 day/3 night weekend event at Calderisi with a full buyout of the hotel’s 24 rooms for about 140 guests at our largest event. Our guests were in heaven and it was the best weekend of our lives. I cannot think of a better place in the world to bring your closest friends and family to celebrate such a special moment. We are so lucky to have our family in the region!
The venue is spectacular. The grounds of the Masseria are just stunning, blending perfectly the authenticity of a rustic traditional masseria with modern renovations for guest comfort. The rooms are spacious, fully equipped, and feel both luxurious and cozy. We stayed in the Il Fortino suite, which was truly the best bridal suite I could ever imagine. The beds are comfortable, the bath products are excellent, great quality towels and sheets, and everything smells fantastic. Funny thing to note, I know, but it's true.
THE BREAKFAST! I've never had a breakfast like it. Truly the most delicious breakfast experience of my life.
There are so many beautiful areas of the masseria, that we were able to throw multiple events there (including some events that moved across multiple areas of the grounds) without anything ever feeling repetitive. It’s so chic and beautifully landscaped, with perfect interior and exterior decor to create the most relaxing atmosphere. We had an apertivo hour for guests on the first night of check in at the apero terrace, a pool party one afternoon, our wedding ceremony in the olive grove, our wedding dinner in the main piazza, dancing in the moroccan tent, and the best of all, an after party in the grotto. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Calderisi Mare, their beach club, is also amazing! We had a fabulous welcome party there.
The food is some of the best you’ll find in the entire region. Pietro, the head chef, was present and hands on at all of our events. The dishes highlight the traditional cuisine of the region, but with a modern focus on quality and presentation. There was SO much food at all of the events, our guests were astounded. We had live food stations with chefs making fresh mozzarella and frying panzerotti, making pasta in a huge pan in front of the guests, and also plated dishes that were to die for. Normally at large scale events, I always find that the quality of the food suffers in order to mass produce everything. Not an issue here! The dishes were as delicious on the wedding day as they were for the tasting my husband and I did with just the two of us. I was so impressed. Also, the Calderisi spritz is the best cocktail for the summer, and their wine program is great.
The staff is absolutely top notch. They are so professional, but are so warm and make you feel so at home. It was heartbreaking to leave, because we loved the staff so much! Maria at the GIOIA bar, Martino the bellhop, Tomaso one of the bartenders, are just a few to name who were really exceptional. We felt so connected to everyone, it was sad to leave!
But most importantly, the events team. The true heart and soul of Calderisi is Elena, the events manager. We could not have done this without her. Wedding planning is a stressful process, but she made it fun and really enjoyable. She is never without a smile and has a heart of gold. The masseria is strict about their rules and the way they approach events, but Elena was always willing to discuss and had great ideas about trying to accommodate our needs as hosts. I cannot imagine doing this without her. Noemi on her events team is equally fantastic. The day of coordination was seamless, I am unbelievably grateful to the team for allowing me to be so relaxed on my wedding day, something I never thought would be possible. The masseria is so lucky to have them both, they are treasures! I miss working with them already!
We also met our welcome party DJ Daniele Burgarella through Calderisi, and let me tell you, he is an absolute pro who knows how to throw a party! We had a couple meetings with him before the event talking about the types of vibe we wanted for the welcome party, and we drastically underestimated how much our guests wanted to dance. Daniele was able to read the room without a single conversation in the moment and had our guests soaked in sweat on their feet for hours. He absolutely made the party!!
The only thing I’d say, is like most wedding venues, it’s very expensive. A few things felt like we were just getting hit with costs that were way overpriced and others were pretty reasonable. If you are planning on hosting an event here, I’d say I can’t think of a better place to do it but ask a lot of questions as there are lots of costs that pop up along the way. Like I said, Elena is great and entirely reasonable to work with.
Whether you are looking for Calderisi for a holiday or as an events venue, it’s a perfect getaway. My only regret is that we can’t make this an annual event!
