"Lovely clean hotel with modern decor in an otherwise run down area."

Hotel very clean and staff was friendly,

The included “continental” breakfast was a little bit of a let down considering the food from the restaurant was very good.

"We will not be back"

5.0

We booked a room here for 3 nights because it is not too far to drive for walking in the Brecon Beacons. We thought the hotel itself and the rooms looked lovely and you could tell it had been refurbished. The room was nice, comfortable bed, hot powerful shower (bathroom is small but was clean - no hooks or places to put toiletries in the shower cubicle), tea making facilities and a TV but... the wi-fi is really low quality and my mobile (02) had poor signal. My husband is with EE and his signal was good. The TV had a very poor selection of channels and was difficult to use. There is a Wetherspoons directly across the street which led to a lot of noise on the street especially on the Friday night when there was a full on domestic outside at around midnight. The town clock also rings each hour so don't expect an uninterrupted night's sleep (having the window open makes it worse of course but with it shut we were too hot). The tea making area was a dark corner beside the wardrobe, no light and quite difficult to see what we were doing. Plenty of plug sockets in the room. One had 2 usb sockets but was by the kettle rather than the bed. Towels were quite thin and small. Breakfast was dreadful. 'Continental' choice of cereal - coco pops, cornflakes or low quality muesli. Fruits - apples or large oranges. Fat free cash and carry yogurts (what a shame with the beautiful dairy products available in Wales), small insipid looking croissants - cold and very low quality. Orange juice, tea or coffee (tea was ok, didn't try the coffee). White or brown toast made from thin, cheap low quality sliced bread with a choice of jam or marmalade. They had actually run out of white bread on our last morning. The dining room was over heated every morning and made me feel ill. The staff were friendly and turned it off when I asked but it was an awful environment. We didn't risk eating here in the evening because of the poor breakfast.
