Rock Reef Resort

We had a problem with our room and they put us in a larger room and comped the difference. It was very generous!

Nous ne sommes pas des clients difficiles, mais cet établissement n'est vraiment pas à la hauteur... Nous avions totalement conscience qu'il s'agissait d'un motel mais quand même... Notre chambre sentait terriblement la moisissure, et l'humidité. Les meubles étaient plein de crasse. Une odeur d'endroit sale était présente. Etant asthmatique ce n'était pas possible. On nous a proposé une deuxième chambre, mais c'était exactement la même chose. Nous avons fait la première nuit, mais sommes partis avec nos deux jeunes enfants le lendemain matin et avons dû réserver au dernier moment un autre hôtel... non prévu dans le budget.

Our family visited the Keys at the end of March and stayed at Rock Reef resort. We rented the two-bedroom half cottage so everyone could have their own space, and this was one of the the most reasonably priced two-bedroom accommodations in the area. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, good blackout shades, kitchen functional (as always in a tropical climate make sure to put food that bugs like in the fridge or microwave for storage), decent heated pool, free kayaks, and even crocodiles hanging out nearby. Staff was attentive and responsive. There is a good restaurant across the street (Sal's), although crossing Route 1 is a wee bit dangerous. The only downsides were some road noise (which all hotels along the main road have) and no place to walk or bike without crossing aforementioned highway. This is also not a fancy resort if that is what you are looking for in your vacation. We would strongly consider staying at Rock Reef again if our travels brought us to the Upper Keys in the future. It is less than 1 hour to the entrance of the Everglades or Biscayne, 90 minutes to Fort Lauderdale Airport no traffic, over 2 hours with traffic.

The bugaloo was literally a few feet from the ocean. We loved watching the sunrise and especially the sunsets. The staff was so pleasant and helpful. If you have never stayed here you should. The resort has an inground pool and also provides lounge chairs for sunbathing next to the ocean. The best part for those who love the water, kayaks and life jackets are complimentary. We'll definitely stay again on our next visit to the Keys.

The only thing we didn't like was the fact our stay was not long enough.

We were here for 3 days after having been to Key West for 4 days. Our room was not fancy, but it was very clean, kitchen had everything we needed. Just a few steps to a quiet private beach with plenty of kayaks and noodles. Location was very close to fishing harbors and fantastic restaurants for hook and cook. The Ballyhoo was across the street and did a outstanding job preparing our Black Fin Tuna and Margate. Would highly recommend if you are there for the fishing. Would definately stay again.

A couple of bottled waters for the coffee maker would have been appreciated. We had to by a case since stores don't seem to sell by the six packs. We didnt use it all but passed on to some very grateful guests. Plenty of towels and toiletries supplies. Love the 11:00 check out time. Staff was lovely and helpful.

The weather was not great so we spent more time indoors. I’d reccomend changing the furniture arrangement or placing the tv on an articulating mount. Booked for 4 people and only 2 towels provided. We went to the front desk and were provided more.

The filthiest place I have ever stayed. The pillows were foul-smelling, damp, and moldy. A bacterial infection entered my left ear, and three days later, I lost my hearing. I am currently undergoing treatment and don't even know if I will ever hear again. A disgusting place. The bathroom reeked of urine. The shower stall was filthy—dampness, mold, and a terrible smell.

I would like to say that we have been visiting this place for some time now and we absolutely love it. It’s a very family-friendly place and everything is very clean. The rooms have everything you need. The staff, from the maintenance gentleman to the front desk ladies and the owner, Linda, are always attentive to the guests. I love the view from the beach, and the pool is very clean. Overall, it’s a great place to spend time with family.

Waterfront beach, quiet and somewhat secluded for relaxing. Beautiful pool and seating area.

Outside seating and grounds were less well maintained.
