YUKUSA OHSUMI UMI no GAKKO

This hotel is actually a converted schoolhouse, located directly on the oceanfront facing west over Kagoshima Bay. To the north, you can see Sakurajima - in the evening, you can watch the sun set behind Kagoshima and the mountains across the bay. Rooms are clean and cute - they still have chalkboards and some other 'school' stuff - and comfortably appointed. The hotel also has a big outdoor area for hanging out and also has a cute treehouse.

You can get breakfast and dinner (BBQ) platters, but you have to let the staff know -ahead of time- before check-in. We didn't realize this; when we got to the hotel, we had to drive back out to find a convenience store to grab konbini food for dinner. Luckily in Japan even a fairly remote location like this has convenience stores within a 10-15 minute drive; however, if you're looking forward to eating real (non-konbini) food for dinner, let the hotel know several days in advance. We saw some of the BBQ platters being brought out to some camping guests and they looked delicious & generous portion.

ゴールデンウィークにしては、割とリーズナブルにとまれた。 しらす茶漬けが美味しい。

風呂がない。テレビがない。他に空いているホテルが無かったのでしょうがなく泊まったが床の準備やゴミの分別など自分でしなければならずしょうもなかった。
