Great location. Comfy bed, good bathroom.

I only at in the restaurant once, as they forget me, so I had cold lobster & steak...but they gave me a free desert. Needs better lighting / lamp placement. Parking is expensive. Elevators are slow. Small niggling issues, but still need to be noted.

I spent years in the Vancouver hospitality industry, so I’m well-versed in the "guest-first" mentality. My stay at The Sutton Place Halifax? That wasn't it. My daughters and I were set for a girls' concert trip Feb 24-25, until a literal blizzard hit. After being told we’d lose our entire stay (cancellation fee of one full night) if we cancelled, I paid $100 just to have my road privately plowed and white-knuckled a two-hour drive, only to find out halfway there the concert was off. (Because the band felt it was unsafe to drive and asked fans to stay home) Despite the province shutting down, the hotel offered zero flexibility. No rebooking (even though we’re back in April), no empathy, just "policy." The Breakdown: * The Room: 8/10. Gorgeous, comfy, and stylish. Did not enjoy looking directly into the office building next door and having to keep the blinds closed. Shampoo, conditioner and liquid soap in the showers were large bottles used by multiple people. No thank you. * The Service: Frostier than the sidewalk. No help with bags, and at checkout, they didn't even bother asking how the stay was. (Trust me, I had notes ready). The Hidden Costs: Toss in $56 for parking and a vague "breakfast is available" (read: "pay up") and this "treat" became a very expensive character-building exercise. I get that policies exist, but sticking to the fine print during a natural disaster is just bad business. Will not be back.
