Tsukihi House Kyoto

The house itself is beautiful and very articulate in immersing you into Japanese history and culture.

Once checked in. We realised the tatami mats were nowhere to be found. Upon contacting the property, they said we had to pay an extra charge for them. (This is not presented anywhere in the TWO BEDROOM HOUSE listing.) We are two adults, who needed separate rooms. The tatami room was completely bare. Impossible to sleep in without the tatami. Their reason, unstated in the listing, was they do not provide two rooms if only two people are staying. This is extremely misinformed. And although the property ADMITTED THIS and blamed restrictions of booking.com advertisment. Which booking com denied to be true. They still refused to help and provide Tatami THAT EVENING. We didn't get a room until after midnight after searching for a hotel..which means we had to cancel our excursion the following day. Our Kyoto trip was heavily tainted by this lack of humanitarianism. And responsibility of misinformation. I wrote the property around 20:30, we checked in at 14:45. 5hrs45 past before we wanted to go to sleep for our excursion in the morning. The back and forth continued until 23:11 until we finally checked out and went to stay at the Hilton hotel. We had no choice. And the property stopped responding to my messages. The property was very unhelpful, very dishonourable concerning their own misinformation, and until now they have not replied to my last messages. I am currently.in the process of trying to get a refund from Booking.com. If you do not get what is advertised and paid for, it is false advertisement, and any clause or condition becomes invalid. (Refund policies for example) If you stay here and are more than two, as most of these reviews have come from bigger groups, this would not have been apparent. So maybe this is why there are no reviews such as my own until now. Furthermore.

Beautiful house in a great location The outside bath was an added bonus

갬성 숙소였지만 사실 노천탕을 제외하고 사용하기에 편한 구조가 아니었음. 중간중간 사용되지 않는 비는 공간들이 어쩌면 숙소의 예술적인 부분일지 모르나 사용하는 입장에서는 공간을 쓰지 못하고 낭비하는 느낌이었다. 침실까지 계단이 많아 러기지를 1층에 두고 왔다갔다 하거나, 밤에 자다가 화장실에 가려고 해도 1층까지 갔다와야 하는 등 구조적으로 사용하기에 불편했음. 깔끔하고 주변이 아주아주 조용해서 고요하게 있기는 좋았고, 세미 노천탕이 그나마 숙소를 그정도 지불한 가치를 느끼게 해주었음. 주변에 지하철역이 없고, 버스밖에 없어서 이동에 제한적이었음. 짐이 많지 않고, 교토시가 아닌 본인만의 시간을 평화와 고요 속에서 즐기고 싶은 사람이라면 좋았을 것 같지만 단순 관광객이었던 우리에겐 맞지 않았던 것 같다.

The staff didn't show up for our check in for almost one hour while asking us to wait for him. I was told long ago in Japan everyone is on time. While the staff kept sending us email asking what time would we arrive and we spent a long time finding how to replying email in expedia told him we would arrive at 3：30. While we waited for almost one hour for checking in and the house is very cold. For sure the only time meeting someone who isn't time sensitive and changed my mind of Japanese service

Traditional style house with a modern twist. Very cool to stay in.

Really beautiful house. Immaculately clean and fantastic facilities. We particularly enjoyed the coffee making kit and the automatic onzen. Perfect for a couple.

Almost everything was fantastic to be honest. Perhaps the location is a little far from the Sanjo, Marutamachi area - but as long as you are comfortable with getting the bus that isn’t a problem.

the whole property was clean and comfortable. the outdoors bathtub was amazing to soak in after a long day of exploring

案内人の方が丁寧にお家の歴史や紹介をしてくださってとても感心でした。夜は鈴虫の声を聞きながら露天風呂に入りました。最高でした。ただアメニティがもう少しあればなと思いました。化粧落としやその他スキンケア用品が無くて、たまたまその時持ってきてなくて困りました。それ以外は大満足です（╹◡╹）スピーカーもあって朝はキッチンにあるコーヒーを豆からひいて淹れて気持ちいい音楽と共にいい朝を過ごせました。また是非泊まりに行きたいです。
