the location was perfect and parking was not too difficult either

Communication with the host (company) was pretty poor - we tried and tried to get in touch with them but could not get through and they did not respond to messages sent over booking.com either

"Quirky cottage."

7.0

It was very quirky, quite comfy. We picked the town because it had lots of pubs and eateries. It was an excellent location but unfortunately the whole town including all pubs and eateries were closed for the week we stayed.

The town closed down for the week we stayed. This made dinners and lunches very difficult. If we had known we could have been prepared but there was no notification and by the time we realised it was too late. Also some of the information folders need updating as they have conflicting instructions.

The cottage was absolutely lovely, so idyllic and charming that we couldn't believe our luck! There's lots of rooms, we were five so everyone got their own bed. There's plenty of baths and toilets, so no teenagers fighting in the mornings. We also appreciated the large kitchen and the super cozy livingroom. We actually ended up altering our plans a little so we could spend more time at the cottage, instead of being out and about. The beds were comfortable, and we just adored the low ceilings with beams, (Even though our tall teenagers kept having to walk with bowed heads to avoid concussions 😄 ) I appreciated alla the lamps on windowsills and the personal decoration etc. The place felt like a used and loved cottage, not a soulless moneygrab. The welcome-pack was so thoughtful!

Our main gripe is to do with how lovely, and thus busy, the village itself is; parking was not easy to come by even though it must not be high season in mid-october. I can't imagine what it must be like in summer! Most nights we ended up having to park in the central square, as all the road side parking was taken. Which meant we had to get up in the morning in order to move the car. We never learnt how to use all the tv-remotes, despite the instructions, but that did not bother us in the end at all. The kitchen appliances were getting on a bit, especially the kettle could do with replacing soon, but in the end I think that too just added to the old fashioned charm of the place.

Beautiful house and locatiin

The shower was not particularly warm and had no pressure in the main bathroom. Also one of the showers was not really usable as it was not connected to the wall, only hand held.

"Convenient but noisy"

2.0

It was very convenient for the village, walking distance everywhere. Charming interior (watch your head)

The property (and more importantly, all the bedrooms) are on the main road through town which starts with heavy traffic(trucks and lorrys) first thing in the morning. Extremely noisy! Did not have very good sleep at all. Suggest ear plugs!

"More like a car boot sale than a pretty cottage with over-sized ornaments everywhere."

4.0

Enough lamps and coat hooks. TV and WiFi good. Garden pleasant.

We counted over 100 ornaments and plastic flowers around the property, all thick with dust. As well as making the place dirty, these prevented there being any free space to put things down. They also spoiled the look of the pretty little cottage rooms. Also, there are less ornaments visible in the publicity shots of the cottage which gives the wrong imp;ression. Top bedroom: shower doesn't drain, and windows too dirty to see through. Windowsill (once ornaments removed) dusty. Downstairs rooms: we would have liked to look out onto the pretty High Street, but plastic covering the windows prevented this.
