"Fantastic stay for bird watcher and stargazer!"

9.0

Being a bird watcher and stargazer , this is a top stay you can enjoy your hobbies. Various kinds of parrot and other rare birds come by to the property in the morning to get you out of the bed and in the evening to sing to your dinner. If you are really lucky, you might even catch a glimpse on the Regent Honeyeater! On a clean moonless night, you shall see the majestic milkyway on a dark sky site surrounded with the cliffs/ranges in a distance - great for astrophotography. And, if you choose, our host Wendy can take care of all the meals and you won't be disappointed. During the day, you have access to nearby national parks and walking trails and would be best for having a capable 4WD for truly exploring the area.

Could not find woodfired pizza nearby! Can't get to the Capertee National park due to NSWNP wildlife control activities. Pay specific attention on driving on truly country roads from the evening and on early morning as wombats and a lot of kangaroos are around.

Belle Bois is nestled in a quiet bush location and was the perfect spot for us to explore the area. We used it for a base for cycling and walking to some of the nearby attractions and it was wonderful to come back to s superb home cooked meal in the evening. Wendy gave us lots of information on things to see and do in the area. She was a great host and even provided lunches for us. All expectations were met.

"A wonderfully appointed boutique hotel providing luxury accommodation in a relatively hidden location."

10.0

Belle Bois is very well placed if you want to explore the Capertee Valley and the Dunn’s Swamp portion of Wollemi National Park and are not wanting to camp. Our primary reasons for staying were to take part in a guided birdwatching trip and to relax and escape Victoria’s cold weather. Wendy was very accommodating with our early starts and provided us with a ‘packed breakfast’. Breakfast on the days when we were not leaving early were varied and delicious comprising of seasonal fruit with homemade granola and yoghurt plus a cooked dish like a frittata or scrambled eggs. Although we didn’t see a Regent Honeyeater (correct plants not in flower) we did see some great birds especially on the Dunville Loop which is a gravel road easily accessed from Belle Bois. We opted for the ‘in-house’ dining, not wanting to tackle the roads and wildlife in the dark, and were not disappointed. Wendy contacted us in advance and had food allergies and dietary preferences (one vegetarian) well in hand. Judging by the discussion between other guests the wine list is excellent! Our room was spacious, the subfloor heating in the ensuite was lovely and access all day to the coffee machine appreciated. We had independent access to our suite. I am going to post pictures of some of the birds we saw in the area….

Really, there is nothing not to like! If I really had to make a suggestion it would be to have a bar fridge so independent travellers could store some food but this might encourage ‘in room dining’ and Wendy was happy to store a few items in her fridge for us.

"A very relaxing long weekend in a spectacular regional area of NSW with an excellent host."

10.0

Wendy, our host, arranged a breakfast time with us the night before. She cooked a different offering each day, starting with a home-made muesli and locally-sourced natural yoghurt and seasonal fruit, followed by a cooked main and with bottomless coffee or tea availability. The breakfast area overlooked the expansive property outside, in a very comfortable setting. Wendy was very generous with her time in helping us plan our daily excursions and activities. We looked forward to being back at this beautiful house for drinks and dinner in the evening.

The location is very peaceful and ideal for relaxation and tranquility. The option to stay in for Wendy's home-cooked high table dinner was much appreciated over options for a longer drive to nearby townships. The in-house beverage menu was also very convenient.
