La Tela Di Penelope

The amazing view from the balcony makes this stay exceptional, mountains down to the sea with starry nights and a cool sea breeze during warm days made it hard to leave. The host was welcoming and helped promptly when needed. The facilities were good and everything clean. San Marco d’Alunzio is a beautiful hilltop town with nice people and very good food. I marked this stay on my map for a return in the future.

San Marco D'Alunzio is a secret gem. Don't expect touristy attractions or crowds. This is a TRUE Sicilian town where the locals all know each other by name and everything shuts down during "riposi". La Tela was lovely...it felt like staying in the home of a relative and the lovely ladies who work the tapestry shop & B&B couldn't have been sweeter! Our room balcony overlooked the charming street and we were right next to the church which meant hearing the bells every hour. Breakfast was included next door, simple but delicious choice of croissants, pastries, juices etc. Room was clean, decorative and had all essentials. Bed was comfy. Great Sicilian restaurants within walking distance like La Macina, Demenna and some local little bars. Churches, historical sights within 5-20min walks.

The toilet water pressure was a little finicky but overall all good.

Ubicato nella via centrale di san marco d'alunzio, Borgo che fa parte del circuito borgo dei borghi Siamo stati in occasione della festa dei santi patroni della città e del protettore San Basilio Ci Siamo trovati benissimo l ultima stanza con il balcone ha una vista spettacolare che si intravede tutta la costa. abbiamo avuto il piacere di parlare con la signora Nunziata che cura le stanze molto gentile e disponibile ci ha consigliato dove andare e cenare nel borgo

When we spoke with the host by phone, we informed them that we would be arriving around 10:00 PM, but there was no mention of any extra charge. However, upon arrival, we were asked to pay an additional €20, which we found completely unfair. On top of that, there was no hot water in the bathroom – not even for a shower. This is unacceptable. I do not recommend this property.

Parking was within a reasonable walking distance.

False advertising, as her “breakfast included” claim consists of one coffee and one pastry at a nearby bar. That’s just not right. Very tight quarters.

A helpful host who responded quickly to messages. Although the shared kitchen was small it was functional. The small balcony, which was above the street, had a table and chairs for enjoying a drink / meal. The room was quiet on an evening because of the double glazing.

We parked our car a few streets ‘down’ from the apartment and, whilst not a problem for us, it then meant a bit of a climb up to the accommodation with bags.

The host was absolutely lovely. The view was incredible and the cafe voucher was awesomely.
