Charming but very old and the rooms and property need some work

Relaxed atmosphere

Very peaceful here as it seemed like we were the only guests here. Our room was clean and tidy and warm.

It was very nice inside. The facilities were good. The staff member that showed us around was very nice too. The bed was comfortable & warm. It was nice to have access from your room to outside. Loved the pigs.

Just small things. There was no soap for the shower. The towels were big but quite thin. I woke at 6.45am as a child ran along the floor upstairs & calling their mother. Plus Bobby calves are very nice but they cry out very loudly early in the morning.

The water was discoloured from the tap when we filled our water bottles and in the toilet bowl. It was not a pleasant sight. It wasn't very clear on arrival exactly where our room was although directions to the venue was clear. Sadly we will not be returning. We were disappointed.

The bedrooms were lovely, all with ensuites. There was a lounge and tv area, with a table big enough for 6 of us to sit around together and eat. There were sofas we could have used and even a pool table that a couple of us played on. There were tea and coffee making facilities here too. Perfect for winding down before bedtime as a group.

Before we left there was no hot water. I assume that this was a glitch or something and maybe there was a powercut somewhere. It didn't run our stay though.

Great old villa, good location close to Hamilton.

Very run down, and lots need repainting repairs etc. Loads of missing paint and scrapes to the walls, ensuite door wouldn't slide shut properly, communal room had a lot of plaster on the ceiling that had never been painted since rooms were obviously knocked into one. Room freezing, even with a heat pump. No extra bedding was provided, so used the duvet from the single bed in the room. Thermal curtains would be a great idea as French doors are single-glazed. The heat bulbs in the ensuite weren't working either disconnected or needed replacing, so taking a shower was freezing. The passageway between rooms was also very cold. Stayed 4 nights, with no room service, only one lot of extra towels provided during our stay, 2x bath, 1 x hand, 4 x face, 3 x makeup, 1 x shampoo and 1x body wash - there were two of us!! Communal room, the heat pump was running 24/7 but the pane of glass was still broken in the French door (as reported back in February in reviews). Communal kitchen - milk was provided in a bottle with a rusty lid! Chipped crockery, whole area could do with being updated. The outside was also run down, with equipment/play equipment etc needing to be cleaned or replaced. This is a great old house with a good location and could be excellent if some time and money were spent on it - not worth the high cost per night in its current state!
