Lisbon Country Villa

The Villa looks very pretty in pictures, calm surroundings, nice views of the mountains and the sunset. The cleaning staff were friendly.

There was no one there to meet us when we arrived to show us to our room. We ended up finding a cleaning lady, who spoke only Portuguese, and using Google translate managed to get to the right room. Upon arrival we noticed we had a dirty towel with a hole in it, one of the freezer drawers was very dirty, the built in fridge-freezer had a door missing and there were multiple piles of dog poo on the grass, which, after messaging the owner, weren't cleared up until late the next day. There were also no tea towels or cleaning supplies (not even a broom or dustpan and brush), and we had to ask for these separately. There wasn't really any place to sit comfortably in the villa, we had a single chair to sit on outside, for a villa that sleeps six, and we ended up taking a lawn chair from one of the neighbouring accommodations so we could at least sit outside together. Both these lawn chairs were partially broken too. Neither the sofa nor the dining chairs were comfortable to sit on either. As for the breakfast, there are limited options, which were enough for us, but the hot options aren't kept warm, despite being placed on buffet warmers (these were not switched on), which means that unless you are there at the start of breakfast, you will have cold sausages and eggs. Some of the lights weren't working in the place, and there were also no instructions, nor could we even find a remote control, for the air conditioning. Overall, the whole place just seemed outdated and in need of general upkeep. The owner is clearly spending a lot of money having his own residence renovated, but with us paying over €1,300 for 5 nights, we felt like this was just a money grab. Finally, we had some car trouble, and the only face-to-face contact that we had with the owner was when he saw our car being towed, he asked if everything was okay, to which my elderly mother replied "not really", and the owner just shrugged and walked off.

Lage war super, Frühstück für südliche Verhältnisse auch ausreichend - nicht phänomenal, aber solide.

Das Folgende bezieht sich auf Appartment 6: Es gab keine Klimanalage und draußen waren tagsüber um die 30...35°C, sodass es in der Wohnung erschreckend warm war. Es gab auch keine Fliegengitter. Ich habe über VIERZIG Mückenstiche, weil ich leider bei 25° Zimmertemperatur nicht mit geschlossenem Fenster schlafen kann. Die gesamt Wohnung roch nach Moder und Muff. Das Badezimmer roch nach Abwasser und hatte allerlei tierische Bewohner wie Ameisen und Fliegen. Und der krönende Abschluss war eine Begegnung mit einer Kakerlake im Bad, die ich im heroischen Zweikampf besiegen musste. Zum Glück war das die einzige Begegnung.
