Travelodge by Wyndham Water's Edge Hotel - Racine

The hotel was dirty and smelled like pot. The bar was closed permanently and its in a bad neighborhood. Air-conditioned was stuck on 54 degrees so it was like an iceberg.

When we arrived at the hotel, I was a bit shocked by the overgrown weeds at the front door. That probably didn't set the best first impression, but we were only staying one night and the room was more important than the outside of the property. Second red flag was a paper we had to initial that, I'm parapharasing here, promised we wouldn't do anything that would require the police be called. Third red flag was when I got out of the car to go to the room and there was an empty wrapper from some sort of hemp cigar laying at my feet. Final red flag was the room had a musty smell and wet carpet. Returned to the front desk to tell them we could not stay since three of the four of us have asthma. Front desk clerk cancelled the room and told us to pursue the refund via the third party. I assumed they meant Delta since that was who we booked the room with. Just got off the phone with Delta, they contacted the hotel and the hotel informed them that they would NOT issue a refund. Next steps for me? I will be visiting every review page I can find and relay my concerns. I'm also contacting Delta to inform them that the "quality" of this hotel is completely beneath what I expect from them. Finally, I'm honestly shocked that this would qualify as a Wyndham property as well.

Stay was fine

Entire facility smelled like marijuana.

We were in town for a family reunion and wanted to stay overnight so we didn’t have to drive back to Chicago too late. Upon check in I was informed that there was $100 incidental fee and was to be paid in cash only. I never carry cash and their atm machine was broken so I had to go across the street to draw out cash. I only checked in at 3pm but left to head back to the reunion which was 15 mins away. I ended up dropping my adult daughter back off at the room because she wasn’t feeling well and she said the linen on the bed had stains on them and the bed had spots on them. The bathroom had a used rubber band with hair attached on the bathroom sink and the hotel itself smells. The entry lock to the room was wobbly as if someone kicked it in before. I went back to pick her up and went to check out. The guy did offer another room but no because now in my mind, the whole hotel is nasty. Tried to get my deposit back and the front counter guy stated I had to wait until the morning which was an inconvenience because I stay 2 1/2 hours away. So I ended up driving home and having a relative pick up my deposit. When I spoke to the manager Twana the next day, she didn’t seemed bothered by why I couldn’t stay when I mentioned the room was dirty.

Easy to get to. Ran down … definitely taking advantage of inflation prices.

ALL OF IT, DIRTY, RUDE DESK CLERKS, CARPET HADN'T EVEN BEEN VACUUMED. HAIR DRYER DIDN'T WORK WITHOUT THE KILL SWITCH. WHATEVER GOING ON RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR WINDOW. CAN'T OPEN THE WINDOWS AT ALL! CAR ALARMS GOING OFF ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT. NEVER AGAIN! FOR $150 A NIGHT!!!

I highly recommend bringing your own towels and linens, and probably some cleaning supplies. Make sure you have your shots, and don't bring any valuables into the building unless you plan on keeping them line of sight during your entire visit. The security doors don't work, and if they seem to be locked, it's only because they're stuck. The staff will tell you, just yank harder. It'll pop open. And it's true. They totally do.
