The Gran Resort Amanohashidate

The location was great and the room itself was nice. Although, worth noting, the bed is in the cupboard and you have to take it out and make it yourself.

‘Shared bathroom’ is not quite accurate. The ‘showers’ are in the Onsen room. There is a wall of sinks, and attached to each sink is a handheld shower head. This is your shower. Same room as people are bathing. And you’re not allowed to wear a bathing suit. So, I suppose standing at a sink with a handheld shower head, in a room of other people also over sinks or in the bath, is not quite what I expected from ‘shared bathroom’. The room was way too hot, and the fan provided didn’t nearly come close to being good enough. So, it was a couple of uncomfortable nights.

Very comfortable, large room. Beds were fantastic, and there was a lovely sitting area with table and chairs in front of the window to eat. The view from the room over the water was magnificent.. There was a microwave downstairs and plates/cutlery that we could use to eat the dinner that we brought with us. Manager was very helpful and friendly with good English. Great onsen downstairs.

Perhaps aging a little.bit, but still pretty good.
