Red Lion

We had a good stay. Room food and beer all good. We had to leave before breakfast and were offered takeaway options instead which was appreciated.

Stayed for 2 nights in the apartment. Very comfortable, quiet, clean. Breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Public footpath close to the hotel - really nice walk. Our dog was very welcome. Would definitely stay again.

After a very busy day ant work, we drove from the midlands and arrived at the Red Lion just before check in closed at 10pm, but unfortunately the chefs had gone home so we’re unable to have a meal. Very kindly the bar staff offered to make us cheese and biscuits. The bar was cosy and warm, and when we got to the bedroom, it was clean and modern decor but still kept traditional and in keeping with the history of the building.

Their commitment to homemade cuisine, from the fish pies to the sticky toffee puddings, adds a personal touch that is rare to find. Setting: Nestled next to a church, with seating on ancient cobbles and a secluded beer garden, the inn offers a picturesque and tranquil setting. The rustic interiors, complete with inglenook fireplaces and exposed beams. Lovely stop over en route to Cornwall. Historic and picturesque. Comfortable room and wonderfully looked after by Mandy & Millie in the bar at dinner and by Alison (?) who served as good a breakfast as I’ve had. A happy welcoming venue that provided great value and quality.
