If you love accommodation with a sense of history, this is a gem. Parts are centuries old but now with modern facilities. The setting is gorgeous and the hosts charming. This is an excellent base for seeing the whole of the Lake District. Keswick is a short drive with plenty of eating options but without the intense crowds found in Windermere.

Charming period property boasting an open fireplace, spacious bedrooms and bathroom. Comfortable accommodation and wonderful view's down to the lake. Hearty breakfast every morning and cakes in the evening. If youre looking for peace and quiet surrounded by the great outdoors, but also within 5 miles of Keswick this is well worth considering. I was well looked after during my stay .
I spent a wonderful week at this friendly B&B. Powter Howe is perfectly situated for walking Skiddaw or enjoying Whinlatter Forest. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. Parking in the gated yard was easy and safe. The host was fantastic - preparing filling breakfasts and roaring fires to welcome me back after hiking. I will definitely be returning!
The original house dates back on paper to the 1500's with even original flooring in parts. The gardens and views around the old farmhouse are beautiful. The lady who runs the b&b is lovely and provides a fab breakfast. We would definitely stay again.
The property and surrounding area was beautiful. Host was incredible kind and helpful, and even went out of her way to help me when I had a mixup with a taxi. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about booking in the future.
Been wanting to stay here for awhile as it looked so lovely on the bookings sites and it didn't disappoint. Sat back from the main road its a proper hidden gem, fabulous location. The owner was very welcoming and was lovely to me gorgeous Alfie. We were shown to our room for the next 2 nights and was very pleased, lovely furniture and loved the en suite, you do need to take your own shower gel, shampoo and conditioner tho. Super walk to the lake jut on the doorstep perfect way to wake you up before your cooked breakfast with homemade bread too, yum. Had a wonderful nights sleep in a comfy bed. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and thoughtful, really enjoyed talking to her as we both shared a love of rescue dogs . Me and my 2 dogs will definitely be back again it was lovely ♥

What an amazing place in the heart of the Lake District. I booked fairly last minute but was amazed at what a lovely B&B I found. Super helpful - fresh milk for my room, a lovely fresh cake & biscuits. Really authentic transitional decor. AMAZING views of Skidaw and beyond. The breakfast with fresh baked bread was so lovely too. Can’t wait to stay again.
