The Daxton is a great hotel located in the heart of Birmingham. The staff is great and very hospitable!

It’s gem we don’t know there was

Hotels have one basic job: to give guests a peaceful night’s sleep. The Daxton fails spectacularly. If your room faces the alley, brace yourself. The bass from a neighboring DJ pounds away until the small hours, while every word of late-night chatter drifts through your window like an uninvited podcast. I didn’t fall asleep until at least 2am, only to be jolted awake just after 7am by what sounded like a generator parked outside my window. It went on until past 8am, with such force the walls shook and my bed turned into one of those cheap motel massage chairs. Except less relaxing. When I asked the front desk for help, they brushed me off like lint. “We’ll get engineering,” they said, then disappeared into the ether. Thirty minutes later, nothing. I called again. Another brush-off. When I asked for a manager, the answer was, “we don’t have one.” The grand finale: “It’s always like this, nothing we can do.” Which, translated, means guests be damned. Yes, the hotel looks beautiful. But beauty means nothing if you cannot sleep. The inability to provide quiet enjoyment of the rooms makes this hotel deeply flawed. Until they get this fixed, the Daxton is nothing more than a design showpiece masquerading as a hotel.

Nice room. Very small bathroom. Snacks across the hall were nice. Hotel is expensive for what it is. Valet staff was very nice and friendly.

Temporary construction makes access difficult but once resolve the rest has been 5 out of 5
