The Old Cook's House

The communication from our host was great and so was the breakfast, plenty for what we needed. Our host came and showed our son the train tracks which he loved building (his face lit up when he saw it). The location was perfect for what we required, and it was a great couple of days break. We ate in 2 restaurants locally and thoroughly enjoyed those meals.

It's hard to pick holes when we booked this trip for a specific reason (to get away and relax for a couple of nights at New Year with our son & dog), and it was exactly what we had hoped for. No dislikes to report.

Great location & lovely facilities

Beautiful throughout, clean and tidy, amazing gardens, comfy beds and beddings, super friendly pets and such lovely owners. All essentials were there to start and finish the day. Amazing host Jackie, never meet such caring host before. Highly recommended and wish to be back there again next year

We liked everything

Great booking, quick and helpful information and responses to pre-arrival queries, a warm and friendly welcome, beautiful home from home, stocked with essentials, two minute walk from a Simply M&S, so peaceful and comfortable - didn't want to come home at all!

There was nothing that we didn't love about The Old Cook's House.

1. Location was excellent. 2. Private parking 3. The appartment was definitely different: the "downstairs" of a 1913s mansion. 4. Location was quiet.

1. We were disappointed about the cleanliness. We had to clean the fridge ourselves because of the food residues from previous guests. The baking sheet in the oven was covered in old grease. There was dust everywhere which didn't play well with my allergies 2. The internet was slow (12 Mb/s according to my measurements) and was instable. 3. The bedroom was small and the bed very narrow. I couldn't properly walk next to the bed.

My friend and I travelled by bike to the property for a weekend gravel biking in the Surrey hills and South Downs. We found a host who as a mountain bike coach herself knew and provided us routes, secure lock up for our bikes, with help for clean and maintenance if needed, and a place to stay with breakfast, laundry facilities, nice bedrooms, coffee, great kitchen and living room, and a very good shower. All of this in an amazing location for biking. So many quiet roads and trails all around in every direction. Plus the expert advice. We used Jackie’s 100km mountain bike loop to the South Downs. Not for the faint hearted but brilliant.

The pub and curry house were half a mile walk but there is an M&S food store at the petrol station 100yds away if you can’t walk that far.
