Gruga Apartment an der Messe

Welcoming and accommodating host, great location, leafy area, walking distance to restaurants, shops Gruga park. Spacious rooms. The kitchen is small but functional.

Level of cleanliness has room for improvement. Overall clean, but crumbs in front of the sofa and sticky areas on the floor on arrival. However, access was allowed earlier than usual check-in-time,, perhaps the cleaner rushed a bit.

Good communication, very responsive, big apartment and as per the pictures. Location is practical and the price is good value for money.

The add advertises that the windows are onto a garden, which is true, but the bedroom is actually on a busy street so it wasn’t the quiet sleep I had expected. The apartment had been cleaned ok for the floor but I did find a condom under the bedroom closet and I found the place to be rather dusty. I am asthmatic so if a flat is not completely neat my asthma will flair up right away. The table in the living room was sticky. The bedsheets were keeping me very warm (not breathy material like coton) so I wasn’t sure I was sleeping on bed sheets or mattress protection at first. The manager did apologise for the condom but I don’t think I’ll book again although I come to Essen for work monthly because I am not sure I’ll find a flat as neat as I’d expect.
