Casa del Sol Inn

The design and architecture of the building is exquisite and truly Mexican style. I was there in early January and was able to swim in the pool. The breakfasts were excellent where it's easy to meet other travelers. They have an open air kitchen where you can store food in the fridge, have coffee and fill up your water bottle. They coordinate rides with drivers that serve the hotel. I was scheduled to arrive around 10:30pm so I used one of their drivers because he knew the door code and how to get me to my room. It cost a bit more than a regular taxi but it was safe, reliable and he got me to my room late at night. I hope to stay here again for a much longer time. I was in room 2 with a balcony facing the morning sky sunrise.

What an utterly delightful place to stay while checking out the town of Ajijic. The common areas of this hotel are wonderful, the space is light and airy, loads of comfortable seating, and convenient to the bar and the kitchen from where wonderful breakfasts emerge every day. There is a terrific restaurant right at the end of the block and there is no shortage of good restaurants nearby. It is a very short walk to the main square where there is always a hum of activity. A real plus is that the hotel is a gathering place for many in the local community. Twice a month there is an Ajijic transferee who holds court to anyone new to the town or considering moving there. There are weekly game nights, a Spanish conversational course, movie nights, and more. Elizabeth, the innkeeper is lovely and very helpful with setting up transport to nearby towns. And she is a wealth of knowledge about Ajijic. Our room was terrific and although we were there for a short time, it would be ideal for someone who wanted a longer stay as it has a full kitchen. The space was large, lovingly decorated, and we had an outside space that opened up to the swimming pool. There are also lovely lounging areas on the other floors with wonderful views of the city. We would happily return.

It’s close to the main plaza and the best restaurants. The staff cleans up your room daily while you are out in town. Breakfast changes daily and is whenever you want!

Elizabeth and her staff take every opportunity t provide an excellent stay at Casa Del Sol. From the decor to the food, Casa Del Sol is an excellent value. I even was bale to pre arrange a pick up and drop off from/to Guadalajara with Elizabeth before we arrived, making arriving and departing a breeze. The staff is friendly and accommodations were beautiful and a very short walk to the Lake Chapalla Society, Malecon and Plaza de Centro. We would absolutely stay there when returning to Ajijic. A very special place.

The only issue we had was being in Ajijic during a holiday. There was very loud music played in town until the early morning for two nights during our stay and fireworks went off throughout the two days surrounding New Years. Other than that part of the local culture, Casa Del Sol and Ajijic are absolutely magical.

The property is so well-appointed, beautiful!

The hotel is very nice and centrally located in town. We were greeted by the manager and given a quick tour of the place. The hotel is well maintained and clean.

Good location. Breakfast was well intended with daily different choices, but the execution was let to desire.

There was no one at the reception when we got there after a 7hrs drive from Puerto Vallarta regardless of coordinating our estimated arrival time. Took a while to solve. When we finally got our room, the balcony was stacked with welding equipment and a ladder. I understand the improvement process but it was not a feature we were looking for. Staff was a little distracted by the Holiday hustle and bustle so, there were a couple of glitches. The owner briefly introduced herself at breakfast time and that was it. Other than that it was a pleasant stay which the bartender did contribute to greatly.
