Timeless Charm in Gernrode

Booked with hotels.com. at a compatible prize. Got a voucher from Expedia (!). On the road there we got an email from owner saying we probably hadnt noticed the several extra costs on page 4. We hadnt. A note left to us in the stairwell the night before leaving: Cash only, to be left in an envelope. No host was there at any time, so no receipt, no change. Apartment stone cold with no heating. Smell of moist in the stairwell. One bed high in the middle, the other an iron bed with thin mattress. Apartment filled with mostly historical furniture that was beautiful, but unsuitable for relaxing. Felt like being in a museum, not the easy welcoming accommodation you expect when booking through hotels.com. In short; unless hidden extra costs, no receipt, no change, no host, are acceptable to you…well, you decide. And it isnt really Quedlingburg, if that is were you are going. Thats 20 min by car.
