Gableview Forest Inn ゲーブルビュー

Eine schöne Unterkunft, etwas außerhalb Nikkos (Taxi vom Bahnhof etwa 1.500 Yen) gelegen mit außergewöhnlichen Gastgebern. Elisabeth fuhr uns täglich zu unseren Ausflugsausgangspunkten und holte uns auch vom Bahnhof wieder ab. Abends gab es dann ein unheimlich leckeres Abendessen. Im Keller gibt es einen schönen kleinen Onsen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Herzlichen Dank!

Nous avons adoré notre séjour chez Elizabeth et Satoshi. Le tout était parfait: l’accueil, l’emplacement, le onsen et les repas.

This place is beautiful, with the most peaceful and natural-feeling onsen we experienced. The owners are so helpful and interesting, with deep knowledge of the area. She even drove us to the train station to drop off our things and then the Abyss to hike, giving us salt for leeches (we didn't actually get any on us, though) and explaining all the local going-ons. Breakfast was delicious and the decor is so cool. I still dream about this onsen.

We loved everything. We didn't get the dinner because we don't eat fish, but it looked very good if that is something you're interested in. The buses don't come super often so we ended up getting a taxi to get there, but it was very affordable and so worth it.

We loved the warm welcome from Elizabeth and Satoshi. The inn is full of antiques and artworks. Satoshi prepared two excellent Japanese style dinners for us. Elizabeth was our tour planner with suggestions for every day of our six day stay. This is a modern slant on Japanese culture easily accepted by visitors from the west. Inside and outside onsens ( hot tub) bathing available almost at any time. I enjoyed the round tub onsen outside when it was raining and cool. The forest setting was magical on a misty morning.

More visitors to Japan should come here. This stay is a highlight of our third visit to Japan. We loved every part of our stay in Nikko.

The location was perfect for our visit to Nikko as it was peaceful, our room was cosy and oh so comfortable and the outdoor onsen (which we could book for private visits) was delightful. Liz and Satoshi are wonderful hosts, and the breakfasts and dinner we prebooked were delicious - cooked to perfection by Master Chef Satoshi! Our stay at the Gableview enhanced our visit to the beautiful area and amazing historic sites of Nikko - we would love to return.

The place wast spotless, great location and amazing food.

There was nothing we did not like.

夕食、朝食が大変良かった。 オーナーご夫婦がとても親切で丁寧だった。 イングランドの田舎の宿に泊まっているような雰囲気だった。 森を前にした露天風呂が良かった。

もう少し割安感があれば最高だった。

Although the location is away from easy transport options, the owners were more than happy to shuttle us back and fore to either the centre of Nikko or to a specific location nearby. Elizabeth was very willing to supply all sorts of information about activities that you could pursue in Nikko and it was very helpful. The property is well maintained with the hot baths easily available to use. Dinner was awesome, and a good introduction to Japanese style cooking. Not recommended for finicky or non meat or fish eaters. Breakfast cooked to order was excellent

Without your own car or other transport you are relying on the goodwill of the owners or a taxi service. On arrival the first night, we arrived via the JR station and there were no taxis. We had to move the the Tobu station with all our luggage to find a taxi. The taxi apps don't work in Nikko. Be warned.
