Gulf View Waterfront Resort

The location was directly in the middle of all the places we wanted to go. There is a boat dock on site. You can rent jet skis on site and they offer paddle boards and kayaks for free. The pool overlooking the water was crystal clear. We loved laying in the hammocks at night looking at the stars.

Honestly nothing bad to say. The communication with staff and property manager Cameron was excellent. The views the price. Everything was perfect.

Beautiful place with kayaks to rent and huge pool. I had been here about 20 years ago and was thrilled to see that it is still so well kept. Great for family and couples. Tons to do nearby.

Our experience overall was good. We chose this spot for several reasons which included its central location in the Keys as well being generally affordable and available (we came on short notice). The first room we were in was pretty awful as the bed was basically an ironing board and caused us both so much pain that we decided we wouldn’t stay another night. Bathroom was a disaster (dirty, broken). We contacted the office and they did everything possible to assist us and got us into another room with a much nicer and newer bed, cleaner bathroom, and basically a functional room (which the first one was not). We slept great with the nicer/newer bed and the room as clean, updated, and nice. Codi at the front desk was simply terrific and we loved how she worked with us to make it right. The grounds are nice, there are several hammocks and really nice big pool with a tiki hit on deck, water sports hut with jet skis and a great view of the Gulf. Its small but charming. The updated room (Mahi Mahi) was great and comfortable. Whenever staying at one of these roadside old Florida places its REALLY important to understand how to use them. We aren’t there for a resort experience, we are there because we want a clean, comfortable base of operations so that we can go enjoy the rest of what the Keys has to offer (fishing, snorkeling, beaches, food, etc etc). You are there to shower and sleep pretty much. It is nice to wake up and have the beautiful grounds for morning coffee but its secondary to all others. I would give this 5 stars but as mentioned, our first night was pretty awful and they should probably consider updating room 15 (White Heron) rather than renting it.

Nothing at all

Our room, a king oceanview, was large, comfortable and had a great view. It was clean and well appointed with kitchen stuff (everything but an oven), the bath was specious and attractive, the bed was excellent. In our room wifi was constantly on again, off again. It probably works better in other areas of the property. Kayaks are available to use. It's not a 5 star resort; it's a cozy, comfortable, quiet property with amazing views, the Dolphin Research Center next door (go there and play with dolphins!), a terrific restaurant 2 doors down (SS Wrecks but it's the only full service restaurant nearby). If you don't want to stay in the craziness of downtown, try this place. I will stay here again. But it you want to jet ski, I highly recommend Wet Willies on the other side of town, the vendor at this property, while convenient, is NOT customer service oriented. Would rather spend my money at a vendor that cares about customers more than their money
