Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat

We stayed for three nights in the overwater bungalow and it was perfect. from the very first moment, all the personnel treated us pretty politely. the facilities are great, there is no pool, but the sea is so calm that you don’t miss one. the wifi is not really fast, but it works. breakfast is good. Seaplane from Male was well arranged and on time. This small island makes you think about staying longer and/or coming back in the future. they allowed us to stay after checkout in another beach villa to enjoy more until the time of our flight. never happened.

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The location was beautiful and we loved our bungalow on the water. The scuba diving was amazing and the guides were wonderful and fun.

The food was good but overpriced, and you're charged for water. The pricing at the dive shop was ridiculously overpriced and not clear. "Whale shark dive package" was listed as $150 but only included one out of two tanks, which is not a package, so ended up being $300 a person for the day. We of course knew it would be expensive, but should have been clearly priced not hidden

WOW WOW WOW! The most AMAZING place I have ever visited! I booked this holiday as a surprise for my husband for his 50th birthday, and even I was surprised at Drift exceeding my expectations. The snorkeling was out of this world with so many different options right from your villa. The bath overlooking the sea was a real highlight for me. Staff were all so friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned twice a day. Island was pristine and so quiet and peaceful. Even the other people visiting were quiet. The whole atmosphere was peaceful and restful. The all inclusive package was really worth it - was lovely not to have to worry about any expenses. They even included a sunset fishing trip for us as part of the package, and use of water sport equipment.

There was nothing I did not like, I would just advise guests to take their own snorkel and goggles with - I presume you can get from the water sports place but then you may be limited to an hour a day which is not enough. We spent at least 3 hrs a day snorkeling.

The island is a little paradise!! Very peaceful place since it is a child free resort! You meet other guests once in a while because the island is not very big but in general it is very exclusive… Cristal clear water, surrounded by a reef that is very beautiful, with many fish, small sharks and stingrays, calamari… You will most likely not see manta rays or whale-sharks near the resort but tours can be arranged to try to see them. Overwater villa was very comfortable, had everything we needed for our stay. Food was amazing, a very delicious buffet three times a day… drinks were also very good, we had the all-inclusive option so there was a good selection to choose from. Staff was very friendly, especially the ones from the kitchen… In general we loved our stay and would most likely recommend the resort, except for some issues we had, which I will describe in the negative part of the review.

First of all, I have to mention that my husband and I are not very much into the resort style trip… I mean, lying on the beach all day doing nothing is not quite our thing. SPA we can also pass. Drink all day is good but not enough for us. What we really love is snorkelling!! Activities… Kayak… Fishing… So we picked first the region of our resort because on top of our list was to swim with whale-sharks. And we did research so we could have a few of the activities I mentioned in our resort. We booked the all-inclusive certainly not because of the drinks but because it said here on booking that we would have a sunsrise fishing included in our stay AND a snorkelling trip. However, when we got to the resort, we were EXTREMELY disappointed to know that the snorkelling trip was not included in the package. When questioned, they said they had asked booking to remove it from the page but booking didn’t do it. Also, they kept changing the story and the prices of the snorkelling trip. So in the end we said we were going to pay extra and it cost us 450 USD for the couple. It was a 3 hour snorkelling trip that was amazing, we saw manta rays and whale sharks! But anyway it was very stressful and expensive for us. Regarding the sunset fishing, it happened at the end and it was very fun but it was being postponed all the time because of bad weather. I totally understand if it gets cancelled in case of bad weather but this should be very clearly stated here in booking or at the website (which is not) and also maybe offer an alternative such as a SPA treatment, for example, in case the trip doesn’t happen. Speaking of that, information on the website is very limited (in the sense of what each package offers) and even when we got there, there was some information in disagreement… each person told us a different time and price for some of the things we asked.

perfect for relaxing. peaceful. kids free. clean and perfect beach for snorkeling. delicious food. amazing staff in reception specially Maria who gave us the most private beach villa + help us with early check in and late check out. and Rayaan also who take care of our check out till the last minute. also Eva in the Spa with her magic hands. many thanks. worth to come back in the future.

location perfect, the villas are beautiful, the food was really, really amazing. it was really clean and the reef is beautiful.

i did not like the reception and the fact that they did not make any trip available for us. we wanted to see turtles, whale sharka, etc as shown at their website but they lied everyday that it may or may not happen. if you want just to relax and stay at the house reef is amazing, but if you wish to go outside the island - do not recommend.

we stayed in a water villa. the Villa was more beautiful than the online photos. we had a awesome view. the stuff cleaned up the room twice a day. We get a welcome drink and cold toweld when we arrived. Then we were invited by the Hotel for a Cocktail Party- very great!!! The food was so so delicious. we enjoyed an italian, maldives and mediterran night for dinner. the wohl stuff, espacially the Restaurant Staff was very friendly and helpfull. Thanks to you all. we will never forget our memories here.

Deck Furniture missing cushions - would of provided a more comfortable stay. Provide more coffee options at breakfast. update website to reflect free snorkeling - shop was closed for maintenance

The location was excellent and the villa right on the beach. The staff were very accommodating. This was our second stay here and would return again.

Food got a little bit boring after 10 days.
