Danang Marriott Resort & Spa

We chose the Marriott for its equidistance from Da Nang and Hoi An. The hotel didn’t disappoint. Danang is perhaps a 5 minute taxi journey from the hotel, and with taxi services being amongst the cheapest I’ve ever experienced, it’s easy enough to use them as the primary mode of transport wherever you are going. Hoi An is approximately 20 minutes by taxi in the opposite direction. The hotel pool is very nice, and the white sand beach is the perfect backdrop. The rooms are big, clean and traditional in style. The breakfast is big, busy and caters for all. We visited during Chinese New Year and it’s fair to say the hotel was busy. But, never an issue getting sun-beds, and it didn’t ever seem too busy - largely down to the size of the grounds. A good hotel, at a good price. However, there are May in close proximity to choose from. TIP: nice little massage place about 5 minutes away (Daisy) where the owner offers free pickup and drop off. Pricey massages across Vietnam however when comparing with elsewhere in SE Asia.

What a beautiful big villa with 3 bedrooms! Wow! Breakfast was nice and staff was friendly!

There is a kids club and the kids liked it, but we have to pay for every single thing. Is that not something that needs to be included?

Das Danang Marriott ist eines der besten Hotels, in denen ich je war. Der Baustil hat mir gefallen und ich habe jeden Tag gedacht: Oh wie schön. Die parkartige Gartenanlage ist liebevoll gepflegt, überall gibt es Blumen und Palmen und sattes Grün. Die Lage direkt am Strand ist wunderschön und in Danang eher die Ausnahme. Die Brandung ist recht stark und das Meer deutlich hörbar, zumindest im Februar. Für Tinnitus-Patienten wie mich eine willkommene Erlösung von meinen Ohrgeräuschen. Der Strand ist breit und waagrecht, so dass man ewig daran entlang laufen kann, wenn man will. Das Personal ist wunderbar: An der Rezeption, am Frühstücksbüffet, im Restaurant, beim Wäscheservice, beim Zimmerservice. Alle Frauen und Männer waren stets hilfsbereit und freundlich und gaben mir das Gefühl, sie arbeiten gerne dort. Normalerweise frühstücke ich nie, aber das frische und vielfältige Angebot im Marriott hat mich dazu verführt, meine Gewohnheit zu ändern. Es gibt jeden Tag Neues zu entdecken, es ist für jeden etwas dabei und man kann draußen sitzen! Der große Pool ist traumhaft. Seine Schwimmtiefe ist durchgehend 1,55 Meter; kleine Kinder haben eigene Becken. Das Wasser ist frisch und morgens angenehm kühl. In einem zweiten großen Pool ziehen sportliche Schwimmer ihre Bahnen, die Schwimmtiefe dort ist 1,45 Meter. Generell stellt man sich in ganz Vietnam nicht so an, was das Rauchen angeht. Und so gibt es auch im Marriott zwei würdige Außenbereiche, in denen man zu einem Getränk seiner Wahl eine Zigarette genießen kann. Auf den Balkonen darf ebenfalls geraucht werden. Es gibt zwei bequeme Sessel und einen Tisch, was besonders hervorzuheben ist, da geräumige und schön gestaltete Balkone mit gemütlichen Balkonmöbeln wie im Marriott längst keine Selbstverständlichkeit mehr sind.

Ich habe nur eine Anregung, nämlich den grässlichen Teppich zu entfernen, der unter dem Bett ausgelegt ist. Er verdeckt einen gepflegten weichen Holzboden, der in einem tropischen Land viel angenehmer zu betreten wäre als ein konstant fusselnder Teppich von minderer Qualität. Der Zimmerservice gibt sich wirklich jede Mühe, all die Fusseln und Wollmäuse, die der Teppich täglich hergibt, zu entfernen, aber schon nach kurzer Zeit ist alles wieder da.

We had a nice stay at the Marriott Danang Resort and Spa and would happily return. When we initially checked in, we were told that a suite upgrade was not available due to Tet holiday occupancy. As Platinum Elite members we mentioned that we would be happy to move rooms later in the stay if something opened up, and the staff were able to accommodate us. A suite became available the next day and we were upgraded, which we really appreciated. The suite was fantastic, with two balconies, a living and dining area and even a small mini kitchen area, making the room feel spacious and comfortable. The suite also had ocean views. At check-in, the hotel left chocolates and fruit in our room to welcome us. The chocolates were especially delicious and a very nice touch. For the Platinum welcome gift, we could choose between points or breakfast, and we opted for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a huge variety of options. There were Vietnamese dishes, Indian selections, and Western breakfast staples. The coffee station was extensive, and we loved the made-to-order stations including pho, omelets, pancakes, and waffles. One fun surprise was that you could even have ice cream with breakfast! The pools were beautiful and there were several to choose from, which made it easy to find a relaxing spot. The beach also had lounge chairs available. The only downside was that there was some trash along the beach, including pieces of broken styrofoam, which took away slightly from the otherwise lovely setting. We also tried the hot tub located in the spa area (which is separated for men and women). Unfortunately, we didn’t stay very long because it was quite loud during, and there was a water leak issue in the women’s changing room. The location of the resort is very convenient—situated between the airport and Hoi An. One of the highlights is that you can walk across the street to Marble Mountain. Since it’s a popular tour bus stop, staying so close makes it easy to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the crowds thin out. One thing future guests may want to note: if you book a garden room and the room faces inward, the windows can be visible by other guests and staff from outside when the lights are on. This includes the bathroom window, which looks directly toward the toilet which has no separate door for the toilet. So privacy can be a concern unless the curtains are closed. There were some activities but the cultural ones were typically targeted for kids or quickly filled up. It would be nice if the hotel made more classes available for adults beyond the morning exercise classes, including cultural classes and had more options / times available for the coffee making class which was full. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The staff were accommodating, the breakfast was great, and the upgraded suite significantly improved our stay. Had we stayed in our original room for our stay we would’ve had a much different experience, but based on the overall experience we would recommend this resort to others visiting the Da Nang area.
