Gasthof und Hotel Roter Hirsch

Breakfast buffet was good with a selection of cold food including cereal, meat, cheese, bread and jams. I had a couple of evening meals which were excellent and very tasty, reflecting regional cuisine. Room was comfortable and functional.

Overall room was quiet but the hallway and stairwell could be a little noisy and echoes a lot. Wasn't much of a problem as the hotel wasn't very full but I can imagine it may be a bit annoying if there was a lot of people staying.

Für uns ist die Lage des Gasthauses sehr zentral. Daher konnten wir all unsere Ziele ohne Probleme erreichen.

Very nice hotel structure, comfortable room with the essentials and a nice comfortable bed and everything you need and quiet atmosphere

First of all, the staff was terrible. The hotel’s website stated that English was spoken by the staff, but this was simply not true. When we arrived, I spoke in English to the staff member who welcomed us, and she replied only in German — a language we clearly do not speak. In a hospitality business, especially in a hotel, I expect at least some effort to communicate with guests, even using simple words or gestures. Here, both the willingness and the kindness to try to understand the guests were completely lacking. This didn’t happen just once. On other occasions, when we asked for help or directions, we spoke in English but the responses were still given only in German. It really felt like they didn’t even try to understand guests who speak another language. Another disappointing aspect was the restaurant. We wanted to have dinner there during our stay, but the menu was strictly in German, and since the staff did not seem willing to communicate in English, it was impossible for us to order or understand the dishes. As someone who works in the hospitality sector, I know how important it is to make guests feel welcome and understood, even when there are language barriers. For this reason, our stay at this hotel was disappointing, mainly because of the staff and the level of service. Overall, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming, and the service did not match the basic expectations of a hotel.
