"healing place"

10.0

We stayed at the Ryokan almost three months ago. And I still did not write a review. We stayed there almost by accident, as the Ryokan we intended to stay in had only a vacancy for one night. There was time pressure. So I accepted their suggestion of their colleagues. Maybe I would not have picked it if I had looked into it better as I prefer a traditional house and here the old house (badly damaged by an earthquake) has been erased and replaced with daring new architecture. Yet is turned out to be the best place of our trip, one of the best places I stayed in, and I have been in many places all over Japan. How to write a review that does justice to this special place ? A place that has all the old fashioned refinery, mastering the tradition of omotenashi, blending it perfectly with a young vibrant savoir-vivre, global art and gastronomy. |I cannot write a review. Please read all the other ones, I only want to say : thank you, arigato gozaimasu ありがとうございます

"Great Onsen Resort for Family"

10.0

Stayed a couple nights in this brand new ryokan (after full reconstruction) with family with small kids. The room is large and has excellent decor which is modern Japanese style. Has heated floor across the whole room and washroom which is very welcome for winter visit. The in-room onsen is like a miniature public onsen in large public resort, and is large enough to accommodate the whole family. Each room has its own little garden. The hotel photos accurately reflect the excellent condition of the ryokan. For a small property with only about 10 rooms, there are a decent number of staffs attending to guests’ needs. Whenever we walk out of the room, there is either a staff greeting us or help us with luggages and etc. The dinner in the restaurant is also very well cooked. There is also a small bar playing very nice jazz or oldies. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a onsen getaway which is only a short drive away from Fukuoka.

"すばらしい宿でした。"

10.0

震災後に建て替えを行ったとの事で、宿泊棟やその他施設は新しく、清潔感ある部屋は最高でした。とくに内湯の浴槽は身体全体を伸ばすことができるほど広く、とてもリラックスできました。また、なによりもスタッフの方すべてが親切で、施設外のレストランや土産物の相談など、詳細に教えていただき、満足度の高い旅行になりました。また是非利用させていただきます。

"Good place to relax."

8.0

Pros: Great room with onsen bath overlooking back garden (gave the gardener a shock once). Underfoor heating, walk in closet with safe. Staff very efficient and in some ways a little too attentive. Easy drive into Yufuin center but not missing much by staying put. Cons: Food. Bit of a disappointment. Either too bland or combinations didn't work. Vegetables excellent though.

"Definitely the spot you want to visit again"

10.0

I visited this Ryokan in Dec. 2011 and Oct. 2015. This place is the first and only place I visited multiple time except business destination. It is located 10 ~15min. car ride from Yufu downtown, you only can reach the place by car or Taxi. It might be the only difficult point if you travel from abroad. This place is definitely traditional Japanes styled Ryokan with modernized senses. Every rooms are unique and they have private outdoor(with roof) hotspring bath tubs. You can enjoy bathing anytime during your stay. Dinner is very luxurious while made with very simple materials from local. Tasty and healthy. Breakfast is relatively simple still delicious. I spoke with staff English, Korean and broken Japanese. They willigly listens what you want and always trying to help you. I really want to be there once again in near future.

"Pure excellence"

10.0

this was overwhelmingly our favourite place that we've stayed in japan and arguably ranks top compared to anywhere else on our travels. we stayed in a self contained ryokan - ie we had our own villa like ryokan with multiple rooms as well as indoor and outdoor onsen so the size was unique relative to other ryokans - we travelled with 2 kids so it was convenient having the separate bedroom. the private garden was simply serene. the service was impeccable across all the staff but special mention must go to yuki who spoke fluent english and gave us special local insights re what to see/do/eat.. the food was spectacular and their attention to detail was unexpected ie. our daughter is allergic to dairy and they thrilled her with a non dairy ice cream for dessert..believe me its hard to find that requirement in japan so was a very special treat. the only downside is that its a little far from the town..probably a 25-30min walk altho only 5 mins by cab..altho everything else more than compensates for that

"Best Ryokan in Yufuin"

10.0

What more can I say? I have stayed in various ryokan across Japan and this is one of the best. The location is convenient yet quiet. The private onsen in the room is totally relaxing and looking at the snow falling while indulging in the onsen itself bring one to be in perfect harmony with nature. The scenery is charming, rustic and it is so peaceful that it is surreal. It helps one to discover his inner self and it is a perfect place to relax after spending a day in Yufuin town. The kaiseiki meal is awesome and very filling and delicious. Staying here enable one to be fully appreciative of Japanese culture and tradition. After onsen, having a sip of Japanese green tea while reading a nice novel is a perfect way to end the day. A truly wonderful rustic Japanese experience. Perfect harmony with nature and self.

"Great place to visit especially in the fall"

10.0

We spent one night with our 5 year old son. We loved everything at this ryokan. People were friendly, room was cozy and beautiful. The bath in the room was quite small but comfortable, and the food was great. But most of all, we loved the trees turning colors. It was a rainy day but the trees decorated whole ryokan and it was amazingly beautiful! I am sure that this place would be really nice in other season as well, but we can definitely recommend staying here at the time of Koyo (leaves turning colors!) Do not forget to visit potteries in Yufuin, they have some great Japanese potteries.
