B&B Domenico Florio Palace

Trevligt B&B,väldigt vänlig personal men sängen var en aning för hård för min smak.

Interesting place. Our hostess was the friendly multi-lingual Bulgarian Melena. Owner, Mr. Florio was a cheery old fellow, anxious to see we were comfortable. The place could use a good scrubbing but nothing hugely offensive, just a few stray dust bunnies and a bit of homey clutter in the lobby, hallway and breakfast area. Not your average B&B. Hotel? Palace? The room was nice. The decor was a mix of everything. The location is primo. We slept well. Breakfast was served including ham cheese and sweet things. Fruit was available, some of it was less than fresh. The location is perfect. We stayed an extra night. Would I return? Probably not.

Horrible place to stay. We spent 3 nights there and couldn't wait to leave. The rooms lack elementary sound proof, they face a very noisy street area and the windows are so poor that you have the feeling you don't have any windows, this is how bad you hear the street. We also had a bonus, every morning at 6,30 am the dustmen were emptying garbage bins below our window for 1 HOUR. So no proper rest at all. Moreover, the room was very dirty, hair and dirt from previous visitors being very visible, especially in the bathroom. Also a lot of dust in the room. Expired yougurt at breakfast, which is anyway very poor, reason of which we had breakfast in the hotel only in the first day. The fridge in the room was not functioning and an old bottle of water from a previous visitor was inside. Hotel at 2nd floor with no elevator. I would definitely not stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone. Pictures taken few minutes after check in.

Our room was, actually, quite palatial - with a beautiful painted ceiling. We were comfortable, cool and our host was helpful. He offered to arrange a taxi for €25 to collect us from the hotel but we declined as I had an offer of 20 from Radio Taxi. In the end, due to a mix up, we ended up with a grumpy driver who we had to haggle down to 25 and didn't even drop us at the door. Lesson learned, the next morning we let the owner organise the cab and it was perfect. Breakfast was excellent with a great choice of food and drinks. Location is great, although it's hard to spot the entrance. There were 2 flights of stairs to climb but this wasn't a problem for us. It is close to shops and the market and almost directly opposite a wonderful and inexpensive trattoria. We had a perfect first night in Catania and would definitely stay at this b&b again.

From the moment we arrived until we left we had a wonderful stay. The staff can not do enough to make you feel welcome, answering any questions you may have. Our room had a small balcony, with views over the local streets watching the coming and going of every day life in Catania. The room was large and furnished in old world Italian style. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was very powerful, with lots of hot water.Breakfast was tasty with delicious tomatoes, cheese and hams, fresh warm croissants and a selection of cakes everyday. The hotel is located in an ideal spot to discover all this wonderful city has to offer. Would stay here again and would recommend to friends and family. A little gem of a place.

Very good location in city centre, close to the old town. Many restaurants and shops nearby. Possibility to park on the streets around, just to speak with the parking administrator. Rooms is spacious, clean, with private bathroom, very nice decorated and furniture. Wi-fi working good. Breakfast was excellent, with prosciutto&cheese, coffee, tea, pastries and croissants, bread and butter, jams and honey. They have only one problem: if you have big luggage, you need to climb up to 3rd floor. Overall, Domenico Florio is a good choice to have a nice stay in Catania.

Nice B&B close to the central area. A lot of good places to eat around. Close to the airport shuttle + i's clean + good breakfast buffet + large rooms + good working wi-fi + it has a vintage look - you have to climb to the 3rd floor

Located just in the city center this b&b will surprise you, very clean comfortable and well decorated. Each room has a different design always following the vintage palaces mood. Amazing hospitality they took care of all details, including special breakfast for people like me milk protein allergic. I would recommend that place more than a hotel. Just one thing that could be improved is the fact the b&b is on the 3th floor and they don't have elevator.... it is worthy to do the stairs but whenever you have heavy luggage could be difficult....

great location overlooking very busy square, I didn't mind the noise at the weekends, quietened down week days but great for people watching, great places to eat and drink on your door step, also great shopping !! Breakfast as you would expect, local cheese hams and fruit with lots of bakery items and cake and yoghurt. plenty. Beds were hard , I struggled but my partner was happy. lots of stairs and no lift, so don't stay here if you struggle, friendly and helpful staff which were happy to find bus times etc just ask try prickly pear at breakfast (interesting)
