Villa Mer Vue

We could not have been happier with everything at Villa Mer Vue - from the location, to the facilities, the staff, who were brilliant, the food available at the restaurant next door - all fabulous. The staff were so so helpful and could not do enough to make sure our stay was just brilliant. A beautiful place and we were delighted with everything.

The villa was stunning and in an incredible location. Peaceful and relaxing. The staff were so friendly and helpful but not intrusive- always on hand if needed.

Noe mugglukt på et av soverommene og kjøkken. Men forståelig på grunn av høy luftfuktighet store deler av året.

The bedrooms were lovely and big and all had en suite bathrooms. Unfortunately the air conditioning unit in our room failed on the second night. We did some cooking for ourselves and the kitchen could be better equipped. The upstairs balcony overlooking the beach is fantastic and we loved our time sitting up there. The on site restaurant is very good. Breakfasts were excellent and the staff are all really lovely and friendly. The private pool and garden are also lovely.

When paying a premium price of over $450AUD per night, the property condition should reflect this. The kitchen in particular is very tired and worn. Smashed glass splash back, damaged kitchen cabinets and broken skirting. Only 1 tv in the whole house which didn’t work during our 3 night stay due to bad weather the tv couldn’t get a signal. Not much to do when the weather is bad, no boardgames, no stereo, intermittent wifi. Not a lot of options for dining within walkable distance. In my opinion this property is very overpriced. Disclosure: We did have a full storm lashing the coast during our entire stay, so violent the beach eroded away, sweeping away neighboring fencing. We didn’t get nice serine ocean vibes or get to enjoy the private beach. Just something to consider if planning to stay at this property during change of season. We stayed late here in May.

Provide clean towels at least every two days as they get used a lot. We ordered a bbq on the beach and the price at $50 per head for what was provided was excessive. Villa is slightly more dilapidated than the photos show. There was a sewer smell in the main bedroom

This beautiful villa with a nice pool is located right on the beach. Well equipped kitchen with indoor and outdoor dinning. Friendly and attentive staff provided us a great service.

One of the rooms was leaking from the roof onto the bed during heavy rain and the door lock was not working. Also the bathroom sink had a blockage. Frying pan provided had rusted away but they gave us a better one on request.

Udith and the team are amazing. They are helpful and always available without impacting your privacy. The available food is interesting an varied and most of all the chef will accommodate reasonable requests. The villa is right on a beautiful stretch of beach that is amazing to just look at. The sea is so close it can lull you to sleep on one of the comfortable couches upstairs. The sunsets are a great for a sundowner or two! The property is well maintained but with any ocean facing property small things can show signs of weathering- but nothing that can impact your stay.

No major negatives on the property. The town of Ambalangoda is not really a tourist town. Travel to Hikkaduwa for more restaurants, bar’s etc. Prepare yourself for the Galle road experience. 😀Tuk Tuks are ok but consider getting the team to arrange a van for more comfort, it that is your thing.
