Room was dark, staff changed it but then room was cold, bathroom sink smelt funny, no fruit available for breakfast

Beautiful historic timber framed building tastefully decorated. Quirky corridor to the rooms. Staff were friendly and efficient. The food was brilliant.

The pillows were a little too firm for our liking.

Have returned severaL times when working in the area. Good accommodation - rooms are well equipped. Charming staff Excellent food both dinner menu and served breakfast.

Food was expensive. There was no coffee in our room so we had to hunt some down. The staff found some at a different hotel which I was extremely grateful for, then the next day the cleaner took what coffee we had and didn't replace it. We had to go hunting for some from the staff again. Slight annoyance that put a dampener on an otherwise excellent stay

The staff could not have been nicer - really charming, welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious. The room was really comfortable and well appointed. I liked the attention to detail in the bedroom - a power point both sides of the bed, a coffee machine, bottled water, kettle, lovely towels, hot towel rail. The whole building was smart and appeared well looked after.

The internet was not working for the whole of our stay, which was a bit of a nuisance because the 4G network was not very good. As a result, it was also impossible to check us in to our rooms when we arrived. (We were given drinks on the house while we were waiting which was thoughtful.) The service however for dinner and breakfast was really slow. I assume that this was due to a lack of staff. We had to prompt to be brought a fourth water glass, for example, more than once (we were 4 people) and we had to prompt to be brought our bottle of wine which eventually arrived some time after we had been served our starters. Each course appeared after what felt like very long breaks. Breakfast was equally slow - we came down to breakfast at 8am and admittedly ordered cooked meals but the cooked dishes did not arrive until an hour later. (They were delicious - perfectly cooked poached eggs.) I would stress again that the staff were really friendly and worked very hard. The rooms are expensive which is possibly why I feel more critical.
