International Guest House Tani House

Absolutely loved my stay at Tani House, the owner is super sweet and will make you feel right at home. Traditional experience in Kyoto, breakfast is delicious and the property is in the perfect location. I recommended on my social because it was such a lovely stay.

It was an old traditional Japanese house.

Lovely location and a nice homey feeling. Made the trip experience feel authentic and intimate with friendly hosts. Breakfast was yummy every day we were there!

The Tani house and staff are so kind! As a women traveling alone I was really scared, but they made my stay really comfortable. I got lost on the way there and they helped me out so much. Included free breakfast and the house was super cozy. Definitely would stay here again!

Tani-san is very attentive and welcoming, the house is a traditional residence, ideal if you wsnt to immerse yourself in the culture.

Tani was a lovely sweet lady. It felt like coming to Grandma’s house. She prepared breakfast everyday for us.

The house was way too dirty. So much trash and rubbish in the corridors. It was a hoarder’s home unfortunately. Bathroom sink had black mould. Toilet was inclined so you had to sit in a very small area almost balancing yourself. We had to wash our own dishes, which is okay, but the kitchen was dirty, full of scraps of food, dust and god knows how many years of scum. Unfortunately Tani is a lovely lady but she can’t keep the house up to standards. Mind you we pay a good amount of money for this place. I regret it so much. It almost ruined our experience in Kyoto. Lastly, it’s at least an hour away from every major place or popular areas of kyoto.
