Ast Surf Hotel

My friend and I had the room with 3 double sized beds. Don’t trust the photos, everything is staged. I don’t mind that the furnishings/bedding in our room was ugly, but I do mind that it was very dirty.. It had no windows so it felt like we were in an ugly, dirty box. We paid for 4 nights but stayed 2 - which would have been none but we had to wait for a room elsewhere. During our 2 nights we refused to use the shower, no words for the level of gross and extremely poor lighting. no maid service and we were given 1 towel each for a 4 day stay. The door to the room had a push lock - the kind you use in a bathroom for privacy, not for securing entry into a room. No chain, no deadbolt. The pool was algae green and the pool deck is very small. The restaurant did have a fab view and food was decent. We ate there twice and one server/bartender was seriously creepy. His very 1st question was asking my friend if she had a husband or if single. When she ordered a drink substituting alcohol for soda, he demanded to know why, even asking if she was pregnant. Three separate times he later smirked that he added tequila to her drink. My friend has been sober for 5 months. The hotel has 5 rooms, no one at the front desk at night, and the main entrance has zero security measures. Literally anyone can come in. Hated 90% of our stay. Combined we have been to 130 countries & only care about a clean room and to feel reasonably safe. Big fail at AST.

Stayed here for a few days, it’s a clean and friendly environment, good food, and great service from the staff

Staff was amazing!

The Staff is awesome. Great location, only thing I’d change is the linen… it’s old and felt itchy even if I slept on top.

Had a great time with Anibal. One of my favorite trips and I look forward to coming back. It was a pleasant surprised that everyone in the country was so nice. The food at the hotel was great as well.

The best hotel in the area (Surf City). We came here for a destination wedding and the organizer made a mistake when booking. Jorge, the owner of AST Surf heard of the issue and took care of us. Plus his team set up a volcano tour, an ATV tour and surfing lessons. Oh and the food is amazing. Try the carpaccio and the pasta plate as both were yum! Oh, btw we stayed at 3 hotels on this trip and this was definitely the nicest one!
