Humaniti Hotel Montreal, Autograph Collection

Stayed at this hotel over the year-end holidays. It's a well-appointed property with an artsy, creative vibe. Location-wise, it was ideal for us due to its proximity to Chinatown, the shopping areas, Metro stations and Old Montreal. Our room was on the 19th floor and had a nice view of downtown buildings. However, it was too near the elevators and we could hear the "ding" sound and doors opening/closing whenever it reaches our floor. We got a King room which was nice and modern, with a huge and cozy King size bed. It was clean and tidy when we checked in. The bathroom was also nice, with great amenities, etc. We made full use of the espresso machine and the percolator to boil water for tea. The room could do with better soundproofing because we could hear the sounds from outside. Other than the elevator, we could hear the door of the room across from ours whenever someone goes in and out. We had a restful sleep each night despite this. We appreciated the blackout curtains which effectively blocked the bright lights from the buildings outside. We didn't try the restaurant or the bar in the hotel, but we did get some baked goods and coffee/hot choco from the boulangerie on the ground floor. We made good use of the gym on the 9th floor which had ample equipment and machines for multiple users. The service overall was good but nothing exceptional. The staff provided a little above average in terms of customer service, which is not bad and not a deal-breaker for us. The Front Desk team were efficient, although they do not seem to be "warm and friendly" as one would expect. Perhaps it's just a Canadian/Quebecois trait that's difficult to shake off or the mood of the winter season. Nothing a little more training and experience can help develop. Housekeeping was hit and miss, though. We requested a cleanup after our second day and it was done while we were away. For a 6-night stay, we thought they'd come in again to tidy up and change the sheets/towels sometime after the 4th night, which used to be standard for most hotels. But they didn't. I think guests still need to call housekeeping to make that request each time. This made our room entryway a bit dingy because it was wintertime and our boots would track ice and frozen little rocks into our room. In any case, perhaps more guest feedback will help the staff improve and do better as time goes on. Overall, it was a pleasant stay for us and will not hesitate to book at this hotel for next time we visit Montreal. Unless we get a better deal at another hotel or Marriott property.

The main station of Montreal is in walking distance to the Hotel, which is great if you travel by public transport. The room was very clean and comfortable, the hotel itself looks very modern and new and of course clean as well. I'm already looking forward to my next stay in a few months. There's also a bakery in the building and a supermarket just over the street.

This place look pleasing but far from it, only good thing was it was close to places in the city

Our stay raised multiple service and operational concerns that management should address. Wr arrived early to check-in, we waited over five hours for our room fair enough we were early. Later We were told it was ready, after i had to ask even though we were in the lobby right in front of them, then informed it had not been inspected, resulting in further delays. This reflects poor coordination and guest-service management. Staff interactions were consistently cold and dismissive. As international guests who do not speak French, we felt unwelcome. During check-in, a staff member rolled her eyes while I retrieved my ID behaviour that is unprofessional and unacceptable in any hospitality setting. Considering the fact that international guests keep your hotel busy and making revenue. We were explicitly told the pool was closed from November to May. On our final day, a caretaker advised us it had been open the entire time, operating daily from 10am. This contradictory information resulted in us missing an amenity we were entitled to and highlights internal communication failures. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. After a full day in snow and slush, our room had not been serviced. It was only cleaned after we raised the issue and left again, returning around 7pm. We paid for a suite, yet the view was of buildings on both sides, great view - NOT. Finally, at checkout we were being advised that we were going to be charged again for a room that had already been paid in full an error that should never occur. Overall, the lack of warmth, accountability, and service consistency fell well below the standard expected for a hotel of this calibre. Management should review staff training, communication, and guest-experience processes, particularly when hosting international visitors.
