The Royal Hotel Stromness

This was the nicest hotel we’ve stayed in so far!!! Looks like they just renovated. They recommended well in advance that dinner reservations should be made and the best place to park the vehicle. 5 big stars!!!

Lovely comfortable room, great breakfasts, just a short walk from ferry and bus terminal. I was always too late booking the Ferry Inn for an evening meal, but there is a big Co-op just along the road where you can get salads and sandwiches. I would definitely stay here again.

Great place for our short visit to the Orkneys! Very close to the ferry service, easy overnight parking, very close to most of the Neolithic sites we wanted to see, and great breakfast each morning.

Very nice and cosy hotel with good sized rooms and complimentary breakfast

This little hotel had big in-room comforts, a private bar area on main floor, wonderful included breakfast, and friendly staff. No elevator, but they did help with luggage. Only downside was limited parking. A problem in the whole city, not just the hotel. They did help with that as well. Evening meals were available in their sister hotel, the Ferry Inn, just a few blocks away. Reservations a must!

Central location, clean spacious room. Excellent breakfast choices, food was excellent. Great location to visit Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Standing Stones and Mae Showe.
