GRAND BASE Kagoshima Tenmonkan

Spent 2 nights here before travelling to Yakushima. Chose the location because of the proximity to the ferry which was very useful. Location is actually really convenient for taking the tram to get around the city and is next to Tenmonkan shopping area. Really nice restaurant nearby. Check-in process was a bit quirky - had to talk to a contact centre when we arrived but it worked outy just fine.

very clean, very comfortable. And super convenient less than 10 min away walking distance to the ferry terminal

Not too far away from the station. Check-in was easy enough, facilities were spotless clean, room was big and bright. Overall great value for money.

エアコンの配置に関して、4台のベッドが1列に配列しており、1台のベッド上に設置されているため、部屋全体の温度調整が難しかったです。 部屋全体の清潔感やサービスに関しては十分でした。

The room is spacious and chic, the beds were very comfortable. It was clean. The hotel is close to the port to go to Sakurajima. I recommand!

The room is not so bright but we didn’t care because we were outside visiting!

The room was huge, clean and comfortable for a family of 5. There was space for us to move around even with luggage spewed on the floor. The toilet was large and water pressure + heater was excellent. A washing machine was there for us to do some laundry too. Proximity to malls, food, ferry port to Sakurajima and the aquarium was near enough but it is a long walk from both Kagoshima (approx 1.5km) and Kagoshima-chuo station (approx 1.8km)

Some things that can be improved upon : 1) The check in was horrendous. There was a keypad to input passcode to get into the main lobby and no such details of the passcode was given to us. There was another group of guests who were stuck outside for over 30mins. We finally managed to contact the help desk (via helpful passer bys with their local line ... since we only had data plans for our mobile phones). The helpdesk agent then gave us the passcode to access the main lobby. After this, we had to then self register each and every guest on a wall mounted ipad whilst followed by a face to face call with the agent who then gave us our room number and pass code to enter our room. The passcode to access the main lobby should have been sent over to us via email or the confirmation message from the application 2) There was no lift to the 2nd floor and we had to drag our heavy luggage up the 2 flight of stairs 3) Wish there were more windows to the room
