Moxy Bergen

I stayed at Moxy Bergen during the second week of May 2026 and had a mixed experience overall. I booked a twin-bed sea-facing room and was ultimately assigned the room category that I had reserved. However, at check-in, I was told that this was an "upgrade," which was confusing since it appeared to be the exact room type I had originally booked. The hotel is relatively new and well-maintained, but guests should be aware that the rooms are extremely small—much smaller than what many American travelers may be accustomed to. While the property is modern, the in-room amenities are fairly basic. As a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite member, breakfast was supposed to be complimentary, but I was initially charged and had to request a refund. The breakfast selection was quite limited, and the hotel cited a local strike/protest as the reason for not offering its regular service. During my stay, regular housekeeping services were also not being provided. After I completed a survey through the Marriott Bonvoy app, the hotel responded positively by providing bottled water, a kettle, and additional condiments. I also requested housekeeping service, and the staff honored that request. The room itself was clean and well-maintained throughout my stay. The strongest aspects of the hotel are its location and views. The sea-facing rooms offer beautiful waterfront scenery and spectacular sunsets. The property is within walking distance of Bergen's city center, and public transportation is conveniently located nearby. The hotel also benefits from being a relatively new construction with a fresh and modern atmosphere. Overall, Moxy Bergen offers an excellent location, beautiful views, and a modern property. However, the very small room size, inconsistent elite benefit recognition, limited amenities, and service disruptions during my stay prevented it from being a truly exceptional experience.

Personeel weinig betrokkenheid als dienstverlener, weinig correcte reacties op vragen, bijvoorbeeld over parkeren. Weinig interesse bij gasten.

My stay coincided with a hotel staff strike, which meant limited breakfast, a closed restaurant, and no housekeeping. However, the hotel managed well by leaving fresh towels and toilet paper near the elevators for guests. The hotel itself is in an excellent location right by the fjord. It is just a few steps from bus and tram stations, and a pleasant 20-minute walk (2km) into Bergen city center. Convenience stores and restaurants are also nearby. Rooms are spacious, and you can get a great view if you are lucky. As a bonus, the largest golf store in Bergen is only a five-minute walk away.
