Wander Camp Bryce Canyon - Escalante

Good experience

Extremely dirty facilities. floor broken in showers, toilets, showers, sinks dirty (clearly not been cleaned for weeks). Sheets on bed clean, had a smell which indicated they hadn’t been washed well. Track going into the camp was extremely ‘rough’ not suitable for a normal size car.

Really enjoyed our stay at Wander Camp. Had two separate stays here, so stayed in two yurts. Gorgeous views. Quiet and safe. Friendly and helpful staff (got a free propane tank the first cold night for filling out a review). The beds were more comfortable than many hotels I've stayed in, truly soft and cozy! Just a really cool experience. The staff seems to work hard to keep the facilities clean. Very close drive to Bryce Canyon hikes and a few nearby restaurants (Showdowns and Pizza Place) Of our yurts, No. 2 was great. No. 14 was on bumpy terrain with a big dip on one side of the yurt that made that part pretty unusable so I'd try to avoid that one. On first night, bathrooms were fine. On second stay in the morning, lack of toilet paper and paper towels in many of the bathrooms.

They are very helpful and communicated really well with me. We enjoyed pur stay so much so, that we ended up changing our plans to go back another night after hiking all day at Bryce canyon and Capitol Reef. I wpuld recommend this place to anyone!

It was a time to disconnect from the world

Location was difficult to find, no clear communication about the lack of hot water and potentially flooded road ahead of time. Remote check in didn’t feel as welcoming.

Weather happens, and roads get washed out -- this is nothing that can be avoided by the property. However, I have been trying to get in contact with the property for weeks via chat, phone call and email with no responses. I have had sporadic responses to the chat feature on their site, but typically hours later when I'm no longer at my computer to see them responding. I booked through Expedia, so they have to confirm the cancellation by the property before refunding me, but they, too, have reached out and continue to be ignored. I have no idea how this place is in business with such TERRIBLE customer service.

There were no signs off the freeway that were visible. Lower clearance vehicles should not attempt getting into the campsite. The creek going into the site was washed out. Once unto the property there was no map site to show which number tent was yours. Online showed a map site but there was no cell service at the location. You had to walk the site to find your tent number. I wondered how they ever passed inspection with their bathroom setup; certainly nothing would have passed ADA standards. On the plus side the star gazing was wonderful and the bed and down comforter bedding was great. They really need to work on their communication.

If you are looking for a unique immersive experience of camping in Utah, look no further, Camp Wander is the answer. Make no mistake, this is not a five star hotel! However, the tents are in excellent condition for the climate they live in. The beds were not just cots, they were comfortable mattresses. The butterfly chairs made for excellent star gazing. The bathrooms had working lights and running water. There was even a convenient little wagon to transfer things from parking area to the tents. Best of all was the fellow campers, everyone was so warm and welcoming, it was easy to go fire to fire and make friends! The overall spirit of Wander Camp came through from the campers to the people on site who were there to help. Such a fun experience!

DO NOT BOOK HERE NO ONE was there or ever showed up to help with anything. Us and several other campers had to figure out where the heaters and tents were. One tent was double booked and with no cell service and no customer service the campers spent time getting in touch with someone and having it fixed. Our sheets and blankets were dirty and had hair all over them, maybe pet hair? The “check in” is a trailer with a rope tied to the knob to keep the door shut. Inside were the heaters with half empty propane bottles thrown about. Also several of the lanterns did not work and had to find working lanterns. They should not be able to take peoples money for absolutely NO service.
