Holiday Inn Express & Suites Blythe by IHG

My husband and I chose this place because they promote themselves as recently renovated and after 5 hours of driving I needed a functional bath tub to relieve my painful back and be ready for another 5 hours of driving the next day. We checked in and when I tested the bathtub in our room it was not working. I tried to call the front desk by the room’s telephone was also not working. Went down to the front desk (3 times!) and the receptionist offered the keys to two additional rooms and their bath tubs were also non functional. We asked to talk to the manager on site to allow for a refund but the manager was unavailable until after the weekend (this was a Friday). My husband and I decided to check out because we needed a fully working bathroom that night, we did not touch the room. Monday I received an email saying that my refund was denied and I have tried for 5 days to communicate with them to find out why it was denied - to no avail. This place doesn’t even have the basic amenities (like telephones and bathtubs) in good shape and there’s no one of authority to discuss your concerns when you have one. Never staying again in this chain of hotels. Bad amenities bad service at a much more expensive rate per night than most hotels around it.

The bed was very comfortable (not excessively hard) and after driving 600 miles, it was a welcome respite. They had a well-equipped gym, and we like to exercise after being stuck in a car for 10 hours. The room was clean, nicely furnished, and they had all the amenities provided in the bathroom (hand soap, shampoo, conditioner.)

The front staff simply took our payment without a welcome. There was no overview or explanation of the hotel's amenities. The gym posted a note to request earbuds for listening to the TV while using the equipment, but when we went to the front desk to request these, the person didn't know what we were talking about. We had to do our workout without the benefit of audio. We went down to the complimentary breakfast at 7:00am. The posted food items looked quite pleasant (eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes) along with other various choices including cereal, toast, and cinnamon rolls. Unfortunately, the warm items were completely empty, so we simply had to go without. (This was one of the advertised features that drew us to this hotel in the first place - the breakfast. Unfortunately, they didn't deliver on this promotional benefit. Perhaps not enough staff to keep up with supply and demand.) The Internet was not working during out stay; however, there was a thunder storm, ,and this was most likely out of the hotel's control.

There was virtually nothing to like.

Booked it and paid more because it seemed like the best reviewed, safest and cleanest option in Town. It was most certainly NOT clean, not well maintained at all, and felt less than ‘safe’. I would never stay here again. Never.
