The Manor House by Sansi

If you're looking for some calm after visiting Stone Town, go straight to The Manor House. Just a few miles from the city center, the place offers a really nice view on the ocean in a peacefull garden. This typical omanian house as a lot of charm and the staff is attentive to clients needs. Breakfast is fresh and delicious. I would recommend the place to others.

We have just had the most awful experience at the Manor House Zanzibar, we were intending to spend Christmas Eve and Day there, we were in the taxi cab heading to the hotel and were around 30 minutes from the location, my wife received an e-mail from the hotel saying that there was a water leak and our room was unavailable... We arrived at the hotel and spoke to the receptionist, who confirmed in fact that management had over-booked. We explained that we had booked the hotel via Agoda a month+ in advance. She had really poor and customer service skills and could not respond - or say the right things- not a word of apology, all the while other guests arrived after us and were checked into their rooms... we spoke to one family who confirmed that they had only booked the hotel a few days ago. One can only deduce from this the greedy profiteering policy that the hotel management had bumped-off guests who had been prudent and booked in advance for guests that had made a last-minute decision to stay in order to charge top-dollar for a Christmas booking. I found the whole process distasteful and highly unethical. I am now sitting in a hotel at the ass-end of town, substituted by Manor House, writing this review, in a place that is well-off the beaten track where we are in fact a captive audience...not our preference at all. I actually feel really disappointed that Agoda would allow such a shady process to ensue with their 3rd party contractors... we are very resilient as a family and trying to make the best of a bad situation, but needless to say, this has left a very bad taste. Please be vary of this profiteering policy exercised by some hoteliers in the region! Christmas ruined courtesy of Manor House Zanzibar!

This is a great quiet little place close to the aiport and cocid testing. I only stayed 2 nights. The staff are so friendly and the food even though a limited menu delicious. About 15 minutes from Stonetown but they can happily assist you with transport WiFi is great and beds are comfortable. The only thing I would say I have an issue with is the housekeeping. The hotel seems a but dates and could use a bit of a spruce in the bathrooms and just the floors . They did spray evry just for bugs and turned the beds down.
