Location and the homely feel

No services for cleaning, we had to wash our own towels and linen. Only was given 1 toilet roll per bathroom for 9 days.

Location is wonderful. Kitchen was nice.

No aircons or fans. Only serviced on request at an extra charge. Outside loungers by pool area dirty. Needs lots of maintenance.

Superbly located property with great beach and sea views, attractive garden, terrace and pool. It makes a really lovely single level holiday home. Easy stroll to beach front Melkboss cafes and restaurants (which are largely excellent). Great kitchen and living spaces. Lovely principal bedroom, large comfy bed and quality linen, also with those great views from the bed! Main en suite bathroom good too. Excellent outdoor gas grill BBQ and indoor braai (great South African invention!). Secure, integrated car parking. Concierge service was very helpful and having the property cleaned/changed twice during our two weeks was great.

Bedrooms 2 and 3 are a bit on the small side and second bathroom is properly small. Helpfully, due to circumstances, we were only 2 and not the 4 plus baby we were supposed to be, so we didn't need them but just for others to note. The pool was cleaned manually once but was otherwise a bit dirty as the auto hoover was broken but was still great for a refresher on hot days. Load shedding (power cuts) is an increasing problem everywhere in SA. The property is understocked with the low voltage lighting (which works during the cuts); there were only two table lights for this but this isn't a big deal, given how lovely the climate is. We also ran out of power for 24 hours and didn't notice until the ice melted in the freezer and onto the kitchen floor (power is prepaid at this property and should have been topped up earlier).
