B33 - Praia do Vau Apartment

The apartment is spacious and well located, close to the beach and some nice bars and restaurants. The little cafe bar by the pool is great for a cheap and tasty breakfast - the two woman who work there are really lovely.

Our flight didn't land until late, which meant that we arrived at the apartment just after midnight. We were informed that late check-ins are charged at €20 after 7pm and then €40 after midnight. We were only informed of this after we'd made our booking, so were disappointed to learn of the extra hidden charge. We felt the charge was unnecessary, as the apartment has a concierge, so we struggle to understand why they couldn't hand us the keys? Further to this, we brought cash to pay the tourist tax, however they didn't have any change, so took yet another €8 from us. This was a really disappointing start to our holiday. The beds in the apartment are incredibly uncomfortable, far too firm and none of us slept well during our stay. We were also disappointed that the apartment didn't have a hairdryer - this is something you'd typically expect to be provided. It also stated it had an iron, however we were unable to find that.

Very good accommodation, with plenty of amenities and good areas, well located and with a vastly varied breakfast!

The pool is great, location is nice and close to the beach. Lots of parking in the shoulder season.

There was no coffee or tea, and no provisions in general. There was also no dishwashing liquid or dishwasher tablets so it was difficult to clean our dishes. One of the showers had not been cleaned. The wifi didn’t work. Air conditioner smelt terrible and needs cleaning.
