McCarthy Lodge Resort

They own a bar directly across the street from the hotel and they play loud music until well after midnight. This hotel bills itself as a throwback in time near a small ghost town we were expecting peace and quiet, not a rock concert. When the front desk person left for the night she put out a bowl of earplugs with no explanation, then we learned why.

Private bathroom and A/C would make the stay better

History of hotel and area is amazing! Make sire to dine at rhe Salmon and Bear, tour the mine and hike on Root Glacier. Magic!

Ein historisches Haus, fast ein Museum. Die Saison ist kurz, die Preise für Übernachtungen sind überall hoch. Bereits der freundliche und unkomplizierte Empfang nachte Freude. Ich wusste, dass das Zimmer sehr einfach ist, also möglichst original und ohne Steckdose, Fernseher oder eigenem Bad. Das Frühstück auf der anderen Strassenseite ist sehr gut, die Auswahl aber eher gering.

Diese Unterkunft passt in keine Kategorie. Im Grunde befindet sich das Hotel mitten in der Wildnis und ist schlecht erreichbar. Das Gebäude und die Einrichtung wurde im Alten Stiel belassen. Die Bäder sind in ausreichender Anzahl auf dem Flur vorhanden. Soweit war alles gut. Das Hotel gehört zu dem Gesamterlebnis dieser Gegend und macht es schwer mit anderen Hotels oder Serviceleistungen zu vergleichen. Positiv ist auf jedem Fall das sehr hilfreiche und freundliche Personal.

The hotel is historic property and guests should be prepared for the limitations that entails including no electrical outlets in the rooms and bathrooms down the hall. It is, however, comfortable, friendly, cozy, and altogether delightful.

Staff was wonderful. Rooms were clean but small. Even shard bath was not an issue. Our roomed sink, not all of them do. There are no electrical outlets in any of the rooms. Plenty of outlets in the lobby for charging electronics.
