Having stayed here before I knew where I was going. However the satnav instructions take you somewhere else - maybe address this on the app. I checked in no problem. Came up to my room on the top floor. Opened the door and nearly broke my neck as there is a step down into the room but no warning on the room door. I was immediately met with a smell of illegal nature. I opened all the available windows to ease the aroma. The room itself is lovely and big. Lovely bathroom with a very large bath with over bath shower, however the shower head is held on with tie wraps, and there was no handle on the inside of the bathroom door. I went out to visit friends and when I came back the access to the car park was closed. I rang the number and was told I needed to leave my car there walk round the block to the front of the hotel, go in the door walk through the building into the back and raise the shutter myself!! To which I stated was there no one in the building to do this for me as I didn’t really want to leave my car where it was. I walked all the way round went through and someone had indeed come from the inside and raised the shutter!!! There was body hair in the sink. Not mine!! In the morning I washed my hair and the hairdryer didn’t work. From checking in I haven’t seen a single member of staff. Whereas on my last visit the couple who were running the place were always available and visible. I’m really not impressed on this stay and will not be inclined to return.

All round brilliant service

Receptionist Rebecca was very helpful and very friendly. The hotel was ok although would not be suitable if you are no good with stairs as their are no lifts and the corridors are a little uneven. Room was tidy but only provided with one cup, we had booked as a couple. The cup, kettle and spoon in the room were dirty and needed washing before we could use them but apart from that it was a nice stay. Unfortunately they are not opening their restaurant until next week so cannot comment on the food

Room are boxed room no place for sitting it’s just boxed room and bed , bath room sink are not suitable , although it was clean room but no reception and and breakfast service also could be dangerous fire emergency

Poor organisation, do not recommend. Shabby and reception system virtually non-existence, and staff seemingly unaware even as to when rooms are available. Avoid.

Impressive looking hotel from its frontage onto a pedestianised, quiet street in the centre of Gainsborough. A large, quiet ensuite room with very comfortable bed but lacking bedside lights. The whole hotel appears to have ground to a halt in its restoration to former glories with offputting closed off, unfinished bar & lounge areas & a hit & miss reception system. Never the less the hotel offers very good value accommodation at a bargain price.

Natalie was extremely helpful and very pleasant room was clean and very nicely decorated the rest of the Hotel is being modernised and would go back and see the hotel when all the improvements have been finished

In centre of Gainsborough, not easy to find where to park, rang hotel, answerphone! Rebecca had popped to the shop, but then was very helpful. Parked at back of hotel, so safe & undercover. Hotel is being refurbished so not all in best order, however my room was large, decent facilities, but as on top floor wi-fi didn't work. No food served at all, went to Zizzi round the corner. But no breakfast was a shame. Rebecca & Natalie are working very hard & were extremely helpful. Overall cheap & cheerful.

Dirty shower,bin not emptied,toilet smells,dirty stair carpets,difficulty in getting access and contacting absent staff. Filthy back access through to dirty communal garage, with rat infestation treatments.
