Wow, just wow. I was traveling solo and enjoyed two nights at the Roku. I could write a novel about the joys and pleasures of my stay. From the service, to the spa, to the incredible property— true perfection. Would rate 10 stars if I could. The staff saw I was alone at dinner and brought over some books and reading material. The worst part, was leaving. Hope to return, truly memorable and special.

Amazing calm location. Great for walking in the woods and having a relaxed swim in the onsen pool of the hotel!

Check-in and check-out took forever and the staff was not well trained and the level of the English language varied.

Every single corner! The hotel was just perfect, I found out about it by coincidence and couldn’t not take a room and enjoy at least a day before I leave Kyoto. Beds are very comfy, excellent service, friendly staff, breath taking views, a mix of modern/ traditional Japanese design.
