Donghae Oceancity Residence Hotel

This place has exceeded our expectations. Twin room was very spacious with two double beds which could be separated by moving window - in facts you transform your room into 2 rooms - both had air-con!!!! Generally, room was clean and there were many amenities like washing machine! The staff af the reception Was helpful and we have received a coupons for convenience store.in front of the hotel, there is outstanding shop with ice creams - I highly recommend going there!

Unfortunately, hotel's car park was full during our stay.

Convenient for the town and the beach but also a good base to explore the surrounding countryside. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very large apartment for Korea.

We loved the clever compact apartment design, and convenience of washing machine. Loved experiencing the ondol style room and sleeping in floor on mats, we found them a bit thin and got a bit sore/ moved around a lot through night, however we woke refreshed each morning and felt great - no aches at all! We loved the location and walking distance to Gamchusa temple, great restaurants, Golden Bat cave, and being able to walk around the residential streets and see all the food being grown, etc. Bus network was easy to use too, we took but to Samcheok, then connection to Hwanseongul cave (about 1.5 hours travel, which includes waiting at transit centre for connection (was 40 min to the cave from Samcheok). Our favourite local restaurant for authentic Korean food experience was right around the corner, it's called Donghae DakGalbi ( 동해닭갈비), address is: Gangwon-do Donghae-si Cheongok-dong 935Gangwon-do Donghae-si Cheongok-dong 935. Highly recommend! They serve one dish so ordering is very easy, ( foreigners be sure to ask for mild). :) We found the hotel staff and locals in Donghae very friendly and warmly welcoming. Highly recommended city for anyone wanting to experience Korean lifestyle and foods.

We made it work for us, however an iron or drying rack in the apartment (or combined washer / dryer ) would have been handy. We had wet clothes hanging on back of chairs etc. Lol. I'm sure if we asked reception they would have provided a solution, however being outside of Seoul we found it difficult not being able to communicate in English so decided to make do ourselves. We made it work and enjoyed our stay, however it may be a consideration for other travellers if washing and drying your clothes is important, to communicate this before arrival.

Absolutely incredible location! My friend and I were right by the oceanfront. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very clean which made the stay even better and more comfortable.

Honestly, there was a weird smell coming from the kitchen sink, especially when we removed the drain cover to wash the dishes.

We booked a very clean and quite spacious room. The staff tries their best to accommodate, overall a nice pick if you’re staying on Donghae!
