My girlfriend and I drove 4 hours from Nashville down to Atlanta for a quick weekend trip. When we got to the hotel, there was a line to the door even though it was after midnight. After waiting about 30 minutes, we make it to the front of the line and we’re told the hotel was overbooked. Even though I had prepaid for our room in full, we had no room. Couldn’t even stay! Incredibly poor service on Marriott’s part.

I've always been curious about this place ever since it was built a few years ago — the "Ponce Room" sign definitely catches your eye. The Ponce Room itself is the hotel’s bar, stylishly situated right across from the Fox Theatre and just minutes away from popular food halls, making the location incredibly convenient for a city staycation or weekend getaway. The hotel is integrated with Element by Westin, which was an interesting surprise. Each brand has its own dedicated rooms and even separate elevators, which gives a sense of privacy and distinction between the two experiences under one roof. I decided to finally book a night here for a change of pace in my own city. Upon arrival, the staff were pleasant and accommodating, even during what seemed like a busy weekend. The check-in process was smooth, and overall the atmosphere felt welcoming. However, I do believe the hotel could improve its security measures. At one point, I witnessed a homeless man, dressed in a green vest to appear like a construction worker, enter the elevator unnoticed. I immediately informed the front desk, who had missed the incident. While the individual eventually left, it was a reminder that the building feels a little too accessible for comfort. On a positive note, my room was absolutely spacious and offered stunning views from the 9th floor. I was lucky enough to catch fireworks during the week of the 4th of July — a memorable and beautiful touch to the stay. All in all, this hotel offers a modern, centrally located option for travelers or locals looking for a unique experience. With a little more attention to safety and security, it has the potential to be even better.

Upon arrival there was a long line for check-in. I understand it was later in the evening, but perhaps more than one person should be staffed when there is a huge event in town like a Beyonce concert? This person was obviously overwhelmed because I was assigned TWO different rooms that were already occupied. After a very long and stressful day, this was not how I wanted it to end.
