The Truitt

My husband and I spent three nights here and did not want to leave! The Truitt is such a respite from the busy world. Beautiful, tastefully decorated, private, quiet, it was so relaxing. It was very convenient to the art museum, restaurants and all we wanted to do. So much better than any hotel. We I’ll definitely stay here again if we return to Kansas City.

The house was beautiful. The decor was tasteful. We especially liked the sunroom. We also liked that there were no noisy guests even with a full house.

Poor lighting and no magnifying mirror in the bathroom made it hard to shave/apply makeup on. More snacks especially breakfast snacks would be good. Parking in the premises was limited.

Had a lovely 3 night stay at The Truitt. The common areas, the grounds, the guest rooms - all put together with great style & imagination.

If TripAdvisor had a 6-star rating, The Truitt would get it without hesitation. The design of this hotel is genuinely the nicest I’ve experienced anywhere in the U.S. Every detail feels intentional, elevated, and beautifully executed. It has that rare feeling of luxury! The customer service is exceptional. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful, which makes such a difference to the overall stay. The rooms are incredible. The beds are unbelievably comfortable, and having a private balcony completely elevated the experience. It felt like a little escape within the city. I would come back here in a heartbeat, and honestly, I’d stay here ten times over without even considering anywhere else! Highly, highly recommend.

The The Truitt is one of those rare places that genuinely elevates a trip. The house itself is beautifully restored, with a level of detail and character you simply do not get in standard hotels. Every space feels considered, from the architecture to the furnishings, without ever feeling overdone or staged. What stood out most was the atmosphere. It strikes a perfect balance between refined and relaxed. You feel like a guest in a thoughtfully curated home rather than just another booking. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable. Quiet, well-appointed, and designed for actual rest, not just aesthetics. Small touches throughout show real care and intention. Location is another strength. Close enough to easily access Kansas City’s best spots, but far enough removed to feel calm and residential. The hosts clearly understand hospitality. Everything runs smoothly, communication is easy, and there is a genuine sense that they want you to enjoy the space, not just occupy it. If you are choosing between a generic hotel and somewhere with personality, this is an easy decision. The Truitt delivers a more memorable, more human experience. Highly recommended.
