Casa da Pedra - Monsanto

We have arrived about 30 min before the check in time, so we called the number they gave it to us, the lady immediately said they will charge if we want to early check in, and also will charge if we check out later than the check out time. We don't need that information because we already knew about it. So we need to kill time 30 min walk around the area no problem but we didn't like the way she treated us on the phone.

The location is great, right in the heart of the village and near the parking. The house is cute with its three level split and old stonehouse feel and the kitchen is well equipped enough for having a meal at home. There are also electric heaters and two AC units which are essential when it’s cold in winter. There is a lockbox for the key, so check in and out is easy.

There were small details that could make the place better, ex. one bathroom was out of soap, one AC remote out of battery, black mould in the shower. Also the light in the stairs to the floor below is in a very uncomfortable position, we kept hitting on it every time we went up. The windows are not very soundproof so you will get some noise from the road (and the church bell!). If you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs.

A small but perfectly modernised house in a great location, wonderful views of a fabulous village from the roof terrace.

Air conditioners were not working. Great location and added atmosphere from from church bells every hour day and night, crowing cockerels at dawn and noise from passing people and vehicles. Few open restaurants in the village, and you dare not take your car from its rare parking space.
