Forte São João Villas da Praia

The location was great. Lovely sea views and less than a minute's walk down the path to the beach. It's about a twenty minute walk to either the old town or the strip but very quick, cheap and easy to get an Uber.

There were a few things missing in the kitchen - tea towels, cloths, washing up liquid. We managed to find some tea towels in a drawer eventually but had to go out and buy the other things. We turned up to the hotel reception late at night and they didn't know about our booking. We had to hang around for half an hour before they could confirm that we'd booked and which villa it was (pretty stressful!).

Location fabulous- great beach within 5 min walk. Stunning property. Lovely pool.

The villa was unfortunately overrun with cockroaches. Every night we had the torture of trying to kill the ones we could see in the living areas and some of the bedrooms. This is unacceptable for a high end property. The owners need to get exterminators in to clear them out before asking people to pay soo much money to stay there. It's a shame, because this could be the perfect property, but that aspect was unpleasant and stressful

The villa was better than we expected. Loads of room, amazing setting, private and quiet.

The walk from the hotel to the villa is not good. Needs a bit of work doing to it. WiFi code not provided (worked it out by ourselves) the kitchen leaked due to the torrential downpour which also blew the top floor electrics. We couldn’t get access to the laundry room.

Pool wasn't heated as it was broken for our stay, also trying to get medical attention was not a good experience

Beautiful villa in a stunning location with lovely views. The pool was incredible. Daily housekeeping kept the villa feeling fresh and the maintenance man come daily to tend to the pool and ensure everything was as it should be.

there wasn't many shops close by to buy food. We had to get a taxi to the nearest supermarket a couple of times during our stay but this wasn't an issue.

the property was great. had lots of things to do. was clean and tidy. lots of beds. every room had an en-suite. beds were comfortable as well

location was good in terms of where the strip and the old town are. it’s also 5 mins walk from the beach. but where it’s located in the resort, you have to walk 10 minutes just to get back to the main road to go to the strip or the old town. there is no short cut
