Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape

This is one of the most stunning concepts and a property that makes you feel a connect with nature a connect with oneself. The rooms are outstanding, great views and superb. The food is unique and feels like i am in a masterchef class. The staff is impeccable and so warm that it feels like we are at home. 3 days is also mot enough for this place ideally one should consider 4-5 days. This is one unique property. Puspa and her team made this stay a lovely one. Our host Arda made sure we were smiling and will remember this stay for a long long time. The spa therapists Iluh and Yenti made sure we relaxed and had a lovely time. A spa one must do at this property. F&B staff John, Legi, Arsana, Diva, Olive, Riska, Cha Cha took great care of us. All in all a lovely stay and a magical one. All you need is a wand and you will feel like in a fairy tale.

We will never forget the gracious staff at Buahan such as Arta and Chef Surya. They were from the many staff that made our Honeymoon unforgettable and special. The small details like drawing a bath on our last night and walking us to our villa and back on regular nights. Everyone was so friendly and took great care of us. We loved our villa and the spa was beyond amazing!

Nothing worth noting

Unique place with unforgettable experience. The crew of the resort is extraordinary everyone was very concerned about making our stay perfect. I also liked the privacy and that fact that we didn’t intersect with other guests much. The cuisine is outstanding! Every day there is new menu prepared based on local ingredients and freshly harvested greens. Every dinner becomes special and very much spectacular. Perfect place for food lovers.

This hotel is a special place filled with special people. Most of the employees are from the area and are happy to share their culture. We had bale 19, the above the waterfall bale which they graciously upgraded us to. This is one of the few that have heated pools which we used many times. It is one of the furthest from the bar and restaurant but near the yoga pavilion and some spa suites. It was very private as it directly overlooks the valley. There is an inclinator to bring you up and down the valley but it is very slow so allow for sufficient time. There is definitely a fair amount of insects and creatures near the bale as you are in nature without walls however it is not as bad as I thought. Mostly it was mosquitoes which the hotel actively deters but not unavoidable. At night we heard frogs, geckos and cicadas. The bed A/C worked perfectly so sleeping is comfortable. The outdoor toilet was interesting so know your partner well. Food was excellent and focused on locally sourced, mostly plant based Balinese cuisine. Probably not ideal for the less adventurous eater though. Arsana at the bar was great and makes great bespoke cocktails. We also had a private jungle dinner set up in the yoga pavilion. Our waiter was Legi was so kind and attentive. He actually grew up in the area and shared many interesting stories. We had massages and they were possibly some of the best we have ever had. I forgot the names but both therapists were very skilled. We did a sunrise tour with Yogik as our guide which was great. They pack a wonderful breakfast and the set up is perfect. The lava fields were majestic and Land Rover was a great touch. We participated in the free activities such as yoga and biking through the rice fields which were good workouts. We did our own trek to the waterfall which they provide an adventure kit. It is down some steep steps so bring proper footwear. This place is magical and nowhere else we stayed compares. They provide a high level of personalized service. The only oversight was the welcome letter from Puspa the manager was addressed to the wrong person. We still had a 5 star experience.

We had a wonderful stay. It’s an experience we will never forget. One that provided much needed tranquility, calm and self care from the incredible cuisine to first class service , luxury accommodations, activities and spa. Accommodations: Unlike no other. The “ Naked Experience “ having no walls, creates the experience of living within nature and all its wonderful benefits. Disconnecting from the rat race of life. Waking up to the most spectacular views of the Bali jungle and hearing the sounds of nature. The Bale is ultimate luxury. The pictures speak for itself. Cuisine : We were so impressed with the commitment to locally sourced food, and many of the ingredients harvested from their own farm. The talent of the chef and his team , created incredible meals that were not only visually beautiful , but tasted incredible. To know I was constantly eating fresh nutrient dense foods , but each bite was so tasteful. The house made juices, fresh young coconut water, morninga lattes… AMAZING! My favourite was the Kepiduh farm foraging elixir: anti-aging benefits and so refreshing. Must try is the Seven course dinner! People: We felt like we were part of a family. We had a dedicated “butler” named Arda. From the moment we arrived , he took care of all of our needs. What wonderful personalized service. He knew what we needed before we knew what we needed. So many thoughtful surprises such as the bed decorated “ Happy anniversary “, to fresh juice and fresh fruit , waiting in our bale , after a walk to the falls. Arda was always available to attend to our needs and made sure , we were always happy. He was incredible. Special thank you also to Puspa , who personally arranged an incredible rain therapy session with Stephanie Hoo!! Wow. This is a must try also. Puspa, you have created a very special property with all its first class activities and spa offerings!! My massage was the best I have ever experienced. Our day exploring Bali , visiting the firefly lab was incredibly enlightening too. I have to also recognize Big John , Arsana , Legi , Olive, Sri, Dollar, Sutianto, Uya, to name a few. What a wonderful team. Thank you for making our stay so special.

Unique experience at all levels. Staff so welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about food, plants and surrounding nature. You eat special local farms meal with a fine dining sophistication. Particular attention to team in the glorious open kitchen (astonishing from morning to evening menu), and other members of lovely staff who took care of us in a professional and genuinely nice way. Incredible scenery all over the place and unique atmosphere in the special “open” rooms. You live in the jungle, without the inconvenience you can expect from it (elegants “nets” protect but maintain the closeness to nature). Waking up with sounds of birds and the close-by private waterfall is magic and romantic.

We absolutely loved everything about this hotel. From delicious dining options to beautiful villas with stunning views, everything exceeded our expectations. The Banyan Tree Escape has the perfect blend of historic charm and modern facilities. We booked one of their spacious villas which were decorated beautifully. The service was more thanexcellent, A truly memorable stay!

It is a full retreat experience, you feel as you’re loving in another world. Staff are so friendly and lovely.
