"Disappointing and extremely noisy Hotel"

4.0

Originally i booked one week from 9 July to 16 July 2013 based on my daughter recommendation that this hotel was quiet, clean and cosy four star hotel. As soon as I stepped in the room I discovered that it is rather Dirty, noisy, very expensive and poorly maintained two Stars Hotel characterized by the following: Very poor maintenance for all hotel facilties that includes smelly toilets, erratic TV satellite reception, clogged shower drains, non functional dummy hair dryier, no hot water in toilet in spite of repeated assurance of the hotel staff that the water heater was already maintained and hot water will soon flow after fifteen minutes. This never materialized of course. Hence, my decision to quit this hotel before my planned departure date. Swimming pool looked nice. However, once you plunge in it you will soon discover that the water is not clean. Also, the hotel management did not provide the swimming pool area with any water proof seating arrangement, umbrellas to protect guests from the summer sun. Changing rooms or shower , or drinks are not available to the guests. Poor pool maintenance was clearly observed when I noticed that the pool underwater lights were dislodged from the pool underwater walls and two of these lights fistures could be seen floating on the pool surface with hanging electical cables. no water proof seats or chaise long are seen in the vicinity of the pool. First time in my life to see floating water lights with one meter electric cable attached to the light. The hotel staff were not bothered or concerned after the health or safety risks of these floating lights. My first dip in the pool at 15:00 hrs was bruptly interrupted by extremely loud speakers blasting at noise levels reaching 120 decibels in preparation for a pool party that night in the pool area which started from 7:00 krs PM until 12:30 hrs AM. My experience in this hotel was negative consideing the night dancing parties arranged in the backyard of the hotel which do not allow the hotel visitors to sleep a quiet night considering the high pitched dance music that is capable od damaging the ear drums of all listers which keep blasting until 1:00 hrs AM every night . The hotel loby is not air conditioned leaving room for Alamein desert flies to invade all hotel facilities and particularly the restaurant where sticky and nagging flies are regular visitors to the hotel restaurant. In sort, I was extremely disappointed by the hotel poor maintenance of its facilities and the disturbing noise levels that hotel guests must endure during the summer peak season.

"A homely Business Experience"

8.0

I stayed at this hotel for several days as a single business person. It was out of season so things were generally quiet. I found the hotel clean, very comfortable and the staff most helpful. I was a long way from home and the staff did an excellent job of making this my home away from home. The lobby and outside cafe were very pleasant and the staff most accomodating. I spoke no Arabic but had no problem. English speaking staff was always available. I enjoyed my stay and would recomment this hotel to business travellers who may find themselves in the area.

""Terrible experience""

2.0

It was my worst vacation i've ever had. the hotel could never be rated as a 4 star hotel not even a motel . I have booked for 4 nights however i left the hotel after 1 night because i was tired and i had to stay that night in that terrible motel.my complaints were: 1-The air conditioner was not working and that day was very hot as we were in august. 2-the furniture was unclean at all,the bed linens were not clean with dirty spots, the curtains were also dirty (with dirty patches), it seems that the glass of the room wasn't cleaned since the opening of the hotel that you can't look outside clearly. 3-the minibar was almost not working that we can't drink cold water. 4-the receptionists were not professional in dealing with our complaints. 5-the TV was not working properly. 6-there were no bath facilities (shower cab, shampoo, hair conditioner,.....)as all 4 star hotels. 7-water in the bath wasn't available for about 30 min. lastly i don't recommend this hotel for any one (for even my enemy)

"Not recommended"

4.0

I stayed in this hotel with my family from 9-13 July 2012. We were accompanied with 2 of my friends and their families too (we booked 3 rooms). It was a bad experience. The air condition in my room was not working at all (and that’s a disaster when you’re in July and the temperature is over 40). The refrigerator is very small and hardly working. The bathroom had a very bad smell. They moved us after 1 day to a suite instead of our room and with the same value after the fuss that I made (that was a good move from the hosting lady I must admit). The air condition in the replacement suite was not that good also but at least it worked! Also on one day we didn’t have water in our room after we came back from the beach for like 2 hours! The breakfast was OK. They had a small but clean pool behind the hotel. They have a big playing ground for kids in front of the hotel but with expensive fees for each kid to enter. The staff is generally trying to help and doing their best, but the hotel is not even 3 stars. Of course there is no view as the hotel is on the other side of the desert road (not on the sea side). One good thing is that it is right beside "The Platform" which is a gathering point in Marina with all its cafes and restaurants, so you can walk to the platform each day to spend the evening. It is really a bad value for money as it is very expensive for a hotel with this level. You can pay a little bit more and have a much better stay in Aida hotel or even in Porto Marina Hotel & Spa which is 5 stars hotel and not much more expensive.

"Good Value"

6.0

A fairly new hotel, and one of very few in the Alamein area, other than expensive "resort" type places or awful "local" hotels that are strictly for the locals The hotel welcomes foreign and local visitors. As it only opened last July the place is quite new and spotlessly clean, unlike many Egyptian hotels. The pleasant staff make up for a lack of experience with endless enthusiasm and hospitality. A good place to stay in the vacinity of the El Alamein war cemetery or to break your overland journey to Libya and beyond.

"Looks great, but poor service - not good value out of season."

6.0

I so wanted to love this hotel. My family and I found it as we drove past. It is new (opened July 2010), the rooms look lovely and the beds are extremely comfortable. I should say we stayed on New Year's day - out of season, so in the summer it may be very different. We arrived very cold (yes it gets cold in Egypt) and wanted warm rooms and hot showers. The staff came and put on the heating and the hot water - an hour later, nothing. The water eventually got warmish, but the heating never worked. We heard stories about the fuse, the electrician and possibly changing rooms. The rooms are large with tiled floors (probably great in the summer). There was a lovely looking coffee shop attached with a great menu. We asked if it was operating and were assured that it was. Actually it turned out it wasn't - only bad instant coffee. We ate an evening meal there - the evening meal was great. Breakfast was HUGE, but the bread was at least a few days old. In the morning I was assured that the hotel didn't have a heating system - so the staff from the night before were either clueless or not honest. I asked for a refund from the breakfast - due to the lack of heating and the poor meal, but was told only the manager could allow that. We've lived in Egypt many years, and stayed in many hotels that cost less, but the service was far better - this is typical Egyptian Business, the staff are not trusted by management and the concept of 'the customer is always right' falls far below 'make money at all costs'. So - I recommend it for the cleanliness and the great beds, and the pool is probably wonderful in the summer. But go with your eyes open and bargain before you pay anything.
